Hi.
Looking for some direction if anyone has suggestions.
I currently fly a drake doing level 3s (mostly tech2 equipped), but have been given a raven.
Should i jump into raven and train up cruise missles will it be much better?
Also long term for doing level 4s, I had planned to get a Tengu next since all the level 5 requirements are very useful, but heard you loose skill points when you use tech3 and die?
If above is true should i perhaps aim for a Golem next?
Just want a strong ship for level 4s to aim for. Good tanking mostly as not to die, but good enough dps as to be viable.

Raven is the premier mission ship for starters and the official ship of Isk farmers until they move into a CNR. You can't go wrong, train up into a Raven and decide if you want to go for a Golem or move into a Tengu. The skill loss of strategic ships is negligible compared to the short training time to get in one(3 days at most to retrain the level 5 skill) over longer training cost of T2 ships, while the Golem is more skill intensive but a beast when it comes to running missions.

One of the most useful set of skills are those involving drones. Especially those which allow for extending drone range also Cruise Missile launching skills. Basically anything that allows you to hit the enemy further away than they can hit you and if needed the drones take care of them at closer in. In case you do not know of them there are a couple of great programs to plan you skills - EVEMon and EVEHQ.
With LVL 4s I have found that as soon as you warp in find an object in the opposite direction and align to it and if you have an afterburner USE IT. This gives more time to do damage.

Have decided im heading towards a Tengu. Less training time main factor(infact looks of Tengu over Golem big factor to lol), and from what i have read they can be just as good as a golem if skilled up and played correctly.
My only thing left to decide currently, is whether or not to skip Raven(and drones skills), as trianing them up to good mission running status would take a long time.
Time i could spend instead, getting pre requirments for Tengu, which would improve my drake level 3 mission running.
Any thoughts on that?

You need tech2 light drones for lvl4, its mandatory.

unless your in a tengu apparently? anyone explain why exactly? lol outside of they cant use them.
