I cannot even begin to fathom why a normally respectable person like Tora would go so far out of his way and take so much flak to defend someone who is an clearly a total, unrelenting D-bag. I mean this whole debacle could end up having negative consequences in the long term and I don't see how it can possibly be worth it.

Most people who know me, know I do not make decisions without thinking. I try to think 10-20 steps ahead of most people. Its like playing chess.....sometimes when you think, damn that a bad move, you'll be check mate in a few steps.
If you know me, you might not always understand my reasons...... but the people that do know me, will respect the decisions I make in my alliance. I understand that some would like to know why I do what I do......but being an alliance CEO doesn't give you much time to do so and sometimes I am not even in the mood to do so....

Yeah, see....the whole "I know what I'm doing" thing doesn't cut it when you clearly do not. You don't take in someone who has aired dirty laundry in public. You don't take in someonewho says, "**** you, I'm going to destroy you".
Holeysheet caused a lot of drama in UWOF when they split. He came to you, and you took him. That's fine, But you read those chat logs that were presented and you're left going, "Wow, why?" I stayed out of the UWOF/Marmite drama. I even took it at face value that you legitimately had grown too much and didn't want to risk any more growth when I asked if I could join as an individual (then I saw you took the abortions known as Ghost Headquarters in and laughed hard), and I don't know--nor do I care at this point--if it was just me, or you didn't want to bring any members of UWOF back in. Water under the bridge.
This isn't you looking like you know what you're doing. At this point, with the threats of war decs because you don't like poeple saying it's a bad idea makes you look like a petulant child, throwing a tantrum. |

It's worth trading your reputation, your alliance's reputation, and pretty much any shred of credibility or dignity to keep him around. Because that's exactly how it shapes up. Just to clear the air, Tora isn't running CEVL, our man Magic Preacher is and I guess it's only fair that the corp CEO should have some voice in the matter. And while we're setting the record straight, MOST of the kills are coming from Tora's lads in EVE Corp. CEVL, QA and the rest of us are just in chase mode at this point (current stats on the Top 20 at EVE-Kill). It's like NASCAR that way.
We'll just keep on killing stuff though. If you need it dead, might wanna give Tora a shout and ignore the haters.

Personally, we love them. (And Tora is a pretty cool dude, imho!)
I think a certain someone is reactive when emotionally triggered. I am too, so I recognize it. Say, for example, someone made some rude remark to me; well, I'd likely react to that. If someone did something to someone I care about, I'd definitely react to that. Hell, I'd probably hire a merc over the latter...just to be as vindictive and as spiteful as possible! That's what emotionally reactive people do. (Granted, it's something you learn to temper as you get older.)
So yeah, it can be a liability...but it is also an asset.
Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. And for what it is worth, I think most of this is private, and it should remain that way. It wasn't very cool of a CSM candidate to post those logs the way that he did. Me and my ten accounts (or is it fifteen? I lose count) have chosen not to vote for him as a result. Well, that and the fact he awoxed a guy in order to coerce a vote from him. And some other things, but I digress...
I respect the way Tora handled this in the forums, because his response resonated with me. It really does come down to trusting your leaders, even when you're not provided a lengthy explanation. If you know them and have spent enough time with them, you can have a different opinion and still respect theirs over yours. God knows it is a tiring job to manage the needs of so many different people. Running an alliance in Eve, no matter its purpose or size, is a daunting task!
My opinion is irrelevant. Tora has this covered. I just wanted to voice my support...and to advocate the use of clonazepam, because that **** is just that damned good. Yeah!
