I am hearing that NPC goods post patch will be produced on the planets (YAY!). This is something i have wanted to see for quite some time as i personally trade in NPC goods. I have also heard rumours that NPCs will no longer seed these items which is is fair enough i guess as it means that like other things in eve this puts the production of stuff into the hands of the player. However this also means that it will kill my other profession of trading NPC goods. Can we get some sort of clarification as to what is going to happen with this as i currently have a fair amount of isk tied up in stock? i would rather not just have 10 billion turned into 10 isk over night. this includes both NPC Buy and Sell orders.
Also are the current quantities required for building these items final ? curently for example it cost me (made up figures) 10K to purchase 1 unit of stock. However totaling up known values of items (there are new items required to make said items) it would cost me say 60k to make 3 items which would then effectively double the value of the specific npc good. which in the above example would benefit the player involved in that. Now whilst the exact prices are the same the ratios of one of the items i trade in are pretyt simular. However some of the other items do not fair so well and will thus have their prices dropped by this. Has this been taken into consideration with this patch?
I know this is something that happens when patches are released. there are winners and there are losers and i accept that as part of the game. I also accept that items will change in value due to being buffed or nerfed in patches and again there are winners and losers with that too. It does seem however that this patch will potentially wipe out an entire profession in the process of adding something to the game. and whilst i know eve is not a single player game people do make money from trading npc goods as well as player goods.
This is not supposed to be a <whine> thread, i am merely enquiring what is going to happen so i have all the information rather than just conjecture and rumours. Any information on this would be much appreciated. Any concrete dev input on this would be *awesome* ;)
Thanks in advance *nix

I wouldn't expect a detailed answer, if any. They like to keep quiet about this stuff until they're ready to release the patch so that no one can manipulate the market or gain any sort of advantage.

Looks like dummy numbers to me... Reactions aren't final, quantities aren't final, nothing is final probablym, it is possible that some of goods that can be manufactured now on SiSi will not be possible to produce in the release, and most certainly CCP will and some more (at least high-tech reactions) ------------------------------------------------- I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And though it is impossible I exist ¬ Trimutius |

Edited by: Zoukanix on 21/04/2010 06:38:10 thanks for the info guys, I know they like to keep things quite but there are somethigns they shoudl say about when its potentially gonna cost people serious isk. much like the changing of boundaries of solar systems and destroying of ships (before they reseversed the decision). this could cost me some serious isk if the NPCs suddenly start buying all the goods that where worth 10K from my previous example for 10 isk. I see this is actually what the NPC buy orders are at on sisi now bu i dont know if this is what they are generally set too on SISI or this is because of the changes for this patch.
Thanks, *nix

There's a simple fix that will solve all of your fears (tho the speculators would go *wild*)
Leave all existing NPC sale quantities and orders in place. Leave all NPC buy orders as they are.
Just reduce them to the same 90 day limit that Players deal with. At the end of 90 days the NPCs stop seeding new goods, and their buy orders will be so far below the cost to produce the items that it won't be worthwhile selling to them. It'll just consume the existing stock before the sell orders run out. --- Dreamer: My dream, Freddy! MY RULES.

This sounds like a reasonable idea, though any further clarification on this issue please?

Bascialy its just some idea that hes floaging
someone else thought (Based on what happend in one market on sisi) that they riged the market to constantly shift with each order completion, IE every time a sale order fills the npc marks up the next batch at a higher price, every time an npc buy order fills the npc puts up a new order at a lower price untill they all buy for .01 isk

Stop freaking worrying about why things the developers did 5 years and more ago no longer make sense. |
