I have intel and memory at 24, (with the others at about 11), for a production based character.
I have been itching to get skilling into ships so that i can raise standings on my own for various R&D corps
http://eveboard.com/pilot/MakeStuffs4U
As you can see i can hardly pilot anything, and at times its a little annoying.
SO, is there anything i should learn while my stats are high in these areas before i respec to learn ships & weapons skills?

Ok this is what I would do if I was you. Train cybernetics to level 5 upgrade to +5 implants, cost is about 560 mil isk or 2 plex which is $35. go to learning and train Spatial awareness and iron will to 5 and then focus and clarity to 4. this will cut your training time by 20% at least. Then focus on training for t2 frigates ie wolf or Jaguar mimitar. Download evemon go to plan and select wolf ship then look at fit's.Add to plan and that will give you a timescale. will be the fastest way possible to get you up and running.

electronics are all int/mem (electronics, long range targeting, electronics upgrades, targeting, signature analysis)
engineering are all int/mem (engineering, energy grid upgrades, energy management, shield tanking skills)
mechianic are all int/mem (mechanic, all the rigging skills, armor tanking skills)
drones are all mem/perception
navigation is all int/perception (probably want to be able to fit an ab/micro atleast)
subsystems are all int/mem (in case you want to use a tengu or other t3 cruiser, awsome blitzer but unless you got alot of grinding to do probably takes too long to pilot, offensive 5, defensive 4 and the rest to 3 goes a very long way)
In short, there's tons of core skills, which ones you "need" depends on your plan, guessing you just want the lowest sp route to blitzing missions
oh and I don't click links around here after getting my account hacked a few months back so you might already have some of these.

Not true. Three of five subs are int/mem. The other two are per/will, as is the racial strat cruiser skill. So if you want to max a strat cruiser it's actually faster to do it with per/will given that the ship skill is rank five and all of the subsystems are rank one.

oh, brain fart, well since it seems he's remaping perception/willpower it doesen't matter, train the int/mem ones first then remap. Also the strategic cruiser skill itself can probably be left at 1-3 for pve mission blitzing so doesen't really affect the plan much.

Um, thanks for your replies.
Shame none of them answer the original question;
With my current skills/attributes are there any skills that i should learn before i eventually respec lose my my scores in int and mem

(Also, all this talk about buying plexes and mention of strat-cruisers would make anything think these were cheap things )

say what? Without you disclosing what type of ship you want to blitz your missions in it's impossible to be more specific than this.

Well ok while you have High Intel and memory max out all your learning skills and upgrade your cybernetics that's a must. Then Electronics, Mechanics and Engineering skills, get all the cores up to 5 and I would strongly suggest your first ship be a attack frigate ie Wolf or Jaguar so you can learn how to fly.

Please actually read my whole post posting a reply

Im just looking for areas in industry and science that i can look at before commiting to learn ships and weapons.
Thanks for the ideas Duke, i forgot that i didnt fully finish the learning skills that i wasnt really using. If i get Electronics and Mechanics to 5 it opens teh rest of the R&D fields open to me... which could be fun

You may not want to bother remapping just to train ships.
For example, my research and manufacturing alt is 15i 9m 5p 5w 5c (plus skills and implants of course). He can pilot: * Industrial (Badger Mark II) * Covert Ops (Buzzard + Manticore) * Recons (Falcon and Rook) * Logistics (Basilisk) * Strategic Cruisers (Tengu) * Heavy Interdictors (Onyx) * Battleships (Scorpion ECM) More if I bothered to train the ships he already has the prerequisite skills for.
Ships aren't his primary focus, so there is no need to waste a remap just for training them.

Edited by: Whitehound on 22/04/2010 12:20:03 If you want better standings then you should consider joining a corp, which focuses on a high standing with research corps. All you need would be a small ship with the ability to salvage and carry loot (i.e. a Destroyer) while some corp mates run missions for you. You then just clean up the wrecks and get your standing increase through joined fleet operations. --

It's not worth you remapping skills imo.
If you literally just want to raise standings (and dont care about earning money from missions etc) then you can blitz L2's in a battlecruiser with low skills and a t1 fit. All you need is frigate 4, cruiser 3, battlecruiser 2, gunnery 3, med projectile 2 - that's like 200k total sp - 4 days max training even with minimum perc/wp. Sure, you could invest another 20m sp on top of that to max everything and improve efficiency in 100 different ways, but your standing gain per hour won't improve that much. If i was you i'd try it before comitting to the remap. Depending on how many L2 agents you can find together it's possible to do from 4-16 L2 missions an hour - that's better standing increases than you can get doing L4's with 50m sp in combat skills.... |
