Summer is over on earth. On all possible calendars. Or has not started yet, on the southern hemisphere. In reality it ended at August ending (from wikipedia: "Solstices and equinoxes are taken to mark the mid-points, not the beginnings, of the seasons"), but apparently on some countries with temperature lag it ended now. Where is the devblog?

CCP isn't very good with deadlines. Also they didn't state what year the end of summer was referring too. They didn't say "updated version before the end of THIS summer".
CCP can be very cryptic at times. Or myself like many others like to nitpick their wording. |

Am I wrong when I constantly see this usage of "on" and call it wrong? It's a new trend I've been observing across the Internet for the past couple of months. Same goes with everyone suddenly replacing ed with t. (although, it is my understanding that replacing ed with t works both ways, the t just makes it sound annoying)

If that's all you have to pick on, thanks. English is not my main language. If I say it that way is because I've read it that way lots of times and now it sounds good in my mind (when something is wrong in my language I feel something doesn't fit in the phrase). I may have learned it wrong from Internet, but I'd swear I did read it on paper time ago, maybe it is different when you refer to countries than seasons, for example? Honestly, however, there are a lot more concerning faults on the web to haunt for, are you bored? :) |

Kind of like they did with the last expansion and the missing captain quarters, not to wait until the date is over and say nothing. Don't you think? I would have been contented with a simple quick blog saying they are postponing it because this and that, but if you aim for a date I expect you to at least put it in your calendar giving notice and rescheduling when you are not able to reach it.

Is it "we" as in "CCP" or is it "Zulu" who will be getting out the update?
At what point will CCP take ownership and control of their EVE IP and reign in the truly terrible communication and half-assed deliverables from the past six months?
Take this licensing fiasco, for example. The initial controversy erupted earlier this summer. CCP broke down and pushed the procrastination button "because of vacation / summer / whatever." The deadline has now passed for when CCP stated that they were to wrap up this question.
Where is the leadership to manage and put this issue to rest? Heck, where is the leadership to take the EVE service by the nuts and give both the company AND subscribers a clear picture of the IP's near-term direction?
It gets frustrating watching CCP flounder along like a fishing trawler with no rudder and failing engines. |

It's fools like this that are the reason why companies like Valve and Blizzard don't give any kind of deadlines. Children freak out and whine if they miss them, which happens all the time. Programmers are human. Games are complex. Deal with it. |

I'm dealing with it. It is fine if it has to be postponed, but the proper way to do it is by saying so, not by silence. I also suspect that they may have forgotten, so a few pokes are in order. You also make it sound like a bigger deal than it is, and if I presented it the way I did is because they pointed in August that summer didn't end yet when another release promised for summer had not yet been released at that time (Incarna something point something). If you give a date, you release on that date or announce the delay, is it that hard to understand, Dorian? |

I continue to be amazed at how many people are outraged that we, as subscribers to the EVE service, take CCP at their word and hold them to stated deadlines and communications promises. There are very few people in the world of grown-ups who find it acceptable for their service providers to consistently miss deadlines or deliver undesirable results.
That is not to say that these things do not happen IRL. For sure, deadlines are missed. Crap is delivered. But we, as customers, neither have to accept poor performance nor must we keep silent about such things.
As a general rule, silence reflects acceptance and complicity. That is not the way of the EVE subscriber community. |

Let's take things down a notch alright? Yes CCP said before end of summer, which was pretty foolish, as the place is a ghost town in August. The same result could be obtained via, a thread asking where the damn thing is. If we want the devs to interact here, we need to save the vitriol for when it's really needed.

AG Read my other posts, I was trying to make fun remembering of another one that wasn't released at August because summer can last longer on another measure.
This is the thread asking "where the damn thing is", I was going to ask at the end of August but then I saw the other release delayed because summer had not ended and waited till now thinking it was on the way. I guess I may be the only one getting struck by the longing summer comment back then. |
