I tried to use the buddy system to create a second account for myself using the existing account as the buddy but it appears that you cannot email the invitation to yourself, - anyone able to confirm whether you can take advantage of this?

AFAIK You have to mail the buddy invite to an email account which isn't already tied to another EVE account, if you want the free month.
Just create another email, and go from there :P

if someone signs up on a trial is the month added to your acct or mailed as a code for a plex since a month directly added wouldn't benefit me really since i pay a sub but i would prefer to sell the month as a plex

It is added directly to your account.
I don't see how it wouldn't benefit you - it's a free month, you save $15.

The payment will not be taken from you until the end of the new period. I have mine on a monthly payment but that date is simply pushed back.

You will get 30 days added to your subscription (delaying a recurring payment if you're setup that way), essentially saving yourself $14.95 (or whatever it is). If you are so inclined, so ahead and spend that saved money on a PLEX (using cash) and then give that to whoever you want.
