When I first joined EVE not long ago I heard all these stories about scams and theft etc and never give money / items to anyone you don't know.
Well a couple weeks ago someone was asking for quite a small amount (maybe a few hundred thousand ISK)to get his hauler ship and while everyone laughed at him and told him to stop begging (NPC corp chat) I happily sent him the ISK, he was very polite and grateful so I thought heck, I'll give him 5 million in case he needed to fit his ship or start trading or whatever and he was even more grateful.
Yesterday someone asked for 10m to replace his mission ship, I talked with him for a couple minutes and thought heck, why not if it was me in his situation I'd love any help I could get so I sent it to him.
Today he repaid me in full as promised and then out of the blue I got a mail from the first guy saying he didn't forget about my kindness and he sent me 10m ISK (double what I gave him) because he made a decent amount with his contracts. This made me very happy that he still remembered and thought of me when things started going right for him.
That's all I wanted to say, thought I'd share.

I think alot of people think that these kind of situations are the exception to the rule, and these days I guess it is

After posting a question on the history of Jita in the newbie Q&A section, I had someone message me ingame out of the blue and ask if I had any questions, needed help, etc. After we talked for a couple of days, the guy was nice enough to contract over a Drake kitted out for missions/salvage completely unasked for.
Needless to say, I was extremely surprised given the things I'd heard about scamming, etc. I definitely plan to pay him back and more for the unexpected kindness as that small act probably saved me a couple of weeks of time.

Hi.
The great thing about a world where scamming is posible is that things as trust and friendship actually matter. If it wouldnt be posible to screw other people such values would net be needed and they would not develop.
You just experienced a part of the greatness of this game.

Someone sent me 5mil one day because my shuttle had a funny name 
When I first started playing one of my fellow nooby friends was randomly picked from the local list and sent 100mil by someone who was aparently giving away all of their stuff before quitting. I think between the 5 of us our entire corp had 10mil at that point so we were quite jealous of his newfound riches

A guy I was talking too when still a rookie, sent me a convo. He offered advice an d what not. After 30mins of chatting, he sent me 5mil "for listenin g to my inane babbling".

Today a player had the opportunity to alpha strike my mining barge in low sec and chose not to. The quality of the conversation afterwards will be memorable.

....guess it takes all kinds, eh? Don't worry, I seem to be a magnate for the ones trying to screw-over nOOBs, instead of giving them a leg-up, LOL.... have had only one 'random act of kindness' in my short time playing; No charity asked or given, just a casual conversation about how I was liking the game, and a offer for Q&A. Thanks for that Fknight1.....
On the polar opposite, I was can-flipped in high-sec within my first week, with numerous (failed!) attempts since..... just like in RL!

I had someone offer me advice on how to find a quality agent and start running missions my first night on. They spent nearly an hour helping me find the perfect agent and getting myself set up to fly to them. It's awesome that there are people out there working to help people dig into the game, since it can be pretty overwhelming at the start.
Props to all those noob helpers, you'll keep the game alive and kicking!

I remember once, I lost everything I ever had in EVE. My ships, my money, all of it. So I went to the forums and asked for ideas on how to make ISK. And just because I didn't complain, people gave me over sixty million ISK. Which is still a lot to me right now.
