I thought I was safe in high security space as long as I wasn't in a corporation which was at war...I was wrong. I invested all my money (43 million) into a shipment of megacyte which I figured I could haul around to various stations and make 4 million profit. I was in an Indy flying thru a .8 system when I was targeted and destroyed (along with my cargo) by 2 pirates who were in turn destroyed by Concord. I'm trying to figure out what these pirates were trying to accomplish. Are there really people in this game whose sole purpose is to grief others out of their hard work at any cost? It took me 30 hours of effort to gain that 43 million, now I have next to nothing.

This is a know thing, They will usually have a non ganged person with them who can pick up your loot.
Always move expensive small items in a fast frigate or Interceptor. Put stuff in secure cans in your hold.

I've had this happen to me also. It's a common tactic, not actual griefing. Put up a sell order for great price and wait till someone buys it. Then when they come to move items, destroy them. The pirates sacrifice a couple low end frigates or cruisers to blow you up. Then either have a alt come pick up loot or a corpmate that wasn't involved in shooting.
My suggestion always care good stuff inside secure cans in your cargo hold. It's annoying, but look at it this way. They have major hit points so don't normally get destroyed when your ship does. If you in Empire space the pirates won't be able to hang around long enough to destroy the cans before Concord 'wtfpwn" them.

Edited by: Rasputin Baba on 02/12/2004 20:25:58 You don't move all your assets in an industrial, especially not for a measly 4M profit margin. So many mistakes done here that I'm sure you're better off without any money to worry about.
Destroy secure cans from your hold? Newsflash, secure cans in your hold when dropped can be looted by anyone as fast as regular loot.

High security space doesn't mean that you can't be attacked or blown up. It just means concord will respond to criminal actions which they did.
Sorry for your loss but you thought wrong.
There are things you can do to protect yourself.

ive seen it before, caracels can be easily replaced, and they run through high sec looking for targets scanning your hold. As above they have a third person to scoop the loot. Carry your valuables in secure cans so it wont show up what your hauling.

Griefing? Sounds like they made a quick buck off your unawareness, nothing to do with griefing. You should have taken precautions. Dont expect any sympathy by throwing around the word "griefing". -

if they used old ships with torps or cruise you should petition it under exploit. some people have said their items were returned.

For those of you that gave useful suggestions to how I might avoid this issue in the future, I thank you. To those of you that seem to delight in the suffering of others, may you burn in hell. |
