Hello all....
I wanted to get the opinion of the CEOs here. I am currently developing a web application for corp CEOs to perform background checks on potential recruits. The information is stored in a database, and would be searchable by CEOs through a subscription basis (pay with ISK).
What I would like to know is - has this been done before? Also, if implemented, would you use this database? What do you all think is a fair subscription price (in ISK)?
Any input or ideas are greatly appreciated.

I would use it, depending on what kind of information it would contain ofc.
It's hard to say what a decent price would be as you do not include any information about what the database would contain. No one will pay for it if it only tells you what is already achieveable ingame.
But if it's some kind of databse were people can report their findings to (spies, spammer, hackers and what not) Then I would use it and gladly pay 25-50 as a monthly fee or perhaps a higher amount as a one time fee?

We have our own in-house one developed to meet a bunch of standards. We wouldn't have been able to pay for it, so we used the Amarr approach and got a few developer slaves.

I would use it, but I still think letting thieves into the corp intentionally and then blowing up their carriers is better for business.
I know how you feel. Material of this nature affect us all in different ways. What you need to do is learn from this. And this is just my sig. |

Doesn't this mean that applicants would have to give you (an unknown, untrusted third party) their API keys?
People ***** and moan about giving their own corp directors their API keys, I don't think giving up the goods to a third party is gonna happen. -- Killed me? Read about it in my blog! Northern Lights: Solo PVP in EVE Online

why not just ask for full API and plug it into any one of the dozens of programs designed to check everything you want? _____________________

It would still need a human involved at some point, so its ultimately fruitless for character background checks. Chars with employment histories too long to do by eye should be declined anyway!

Dreddit designed and implemented this when the corp was about a week old. It's worked out pretty well so far.

Human involvement is the centerpiece to this project. The CEOs would not have to enter each corp in the employment history - only their own. They would also input things such as the character's contribution level to the corp, activity level in the corp, reason for leaving, etc. My aim is to make it as much like a personnel file as possible, while still keeping it small enough for CEOs to enter the data quickly.
This service would be free at first, so as to promote the growth of data for future CEOs. Eventually, I'd like every CEO in game to be able to check the background of its new AND old players.

Sorry for double post - but it's issues like this that I believe make it all the more necessary to implement a system like this. Corp hoppers aren't always bad corp members.
I am also prepared to greet the con artists and scammers head-on. I think having a system that CEOs can use to store information(much of it in their own words) about other players would knock a dent in corp theft and general ass hattery. I'm not saying it would totally stop it, but it would definitely decline. Either that, or the number of corps containing ONLY these type of characters would increase.

Last I checked..there is no information that an api would give you that would show you are dealing with a douche.
