I will agree with you on the fact that the Alienware blinky light stuff made me go "wat". But, Bellum I hate your posts, threads and I hope you just leave this community because all you seem to do is whine. Damn I wish I had me a Chimera |

If your feature list included
- Covert Ops cloak, futher jump range and less fuel consumption for bridging on Black Ops
Then this Tyrannis would be (awesome) Otherwise, I will have to agree with you.

Originally by: "Dr Karsun" Well, I find the planetary interaction very, very important. It looks like a great ground not only for more wars, but it's the first HUGE step towards elliminating all npc goods from eve. And in the future, who knows? Maybe removing ALL npc goods?
I fail to see how an instanced mini game that generates pitiful amounts of wealth in return for mind numbing amounts of clickfest single player grind in a manner that cannot be impacted upon in any way by other players is going to do anything to generate wars.
The NPC item argument would only make sense if we had any reason to believe that CCP thinks removing the influence of NPCs is in any way good. And considering that in Dominion CCP made it so that sov (which used to be an entirely player centric mechanic) is now something you buy off NPCs, that doesn't seem to be remotely the case.
I predict that the only way this is going to take off and avoid going the route of FW is if CCP completely remove the NPC orders for the products now made by PI and set up the market in such a way that this becomes yet one more way to make a crap tonne of isk sitting around in empire (most likely using a macro).
Looking around at the state of the game now I'm left scratching my head trying to understand what would make anyone think that what Eve urgently needs now more than anything is an instanced, low skill, single player mini game.
Tyrannis is imho utterly pointless. It does nothing whatsoever to improve Eve as a spaceship game, and what's worse is that I don't see anything at all in the pipeline that _is_ going to improve Eve as a spaceship game. Just years worth of development effort to make Eve appeal more to the WOW and console crowd.

Edited by: AkJon Ferguson on 28/04/2010 22:25:51 I don't care how 'feature rich' this patch is.
CCP, fix the go*****mn lag (which doesn't even affect me, since I'm not in a big alliance, but wtf dude) already.
CCP, stop the f***ing cheaters and macros already and ban those who cheat and macro. (I don't care if you won some tournament, if you cheat you get banned, you don't get favorable treatment just because you belong to a prominent alliance.)
CCP seems determined to ruin the best MMO ever by letting their devs act like a bunch of Jita scammers. Fix what's broken and stop peeing in my sandbox CCP!

I agree with the op. This xpac does seem light.
Oh well havent we always had one small xpac every year? I guess this is it and incarna is the "big" one.

It could be, but taking into account that the biggest expansion yet called Incarna is next up, it's all logical and fair.

It is not the CCP that we had 3 years ago...
Alienware keyboard integration ? SERIOUSLY ? How much players use that ? CCP said that they don't anymore support TrackIR because of the ½ low number of users using it compared to the investment in software required to maintain it +, even if some players didn't appreciate this decision and few special players had to leave...
...But they add Alienwhateverwhocares who is used by what ? 0.0008% of all EvE players ? It will require investment to maintain it, won't it ?
Also, the insurance change about T2 ships will make EvE Online a less "cold, dark and harsh world", depending of their choice. Apart if they cancel it, this will just reduce the validity of the "Loss in Eve means something".
Oups, I would forget Eve Gate... Facebook Online, seriously a waste of time. Why not Twitter Online also ? And as all alliances in EvE don't have their proper calendars and others...
In the same time, they still AVOID the moment to correct some problems of EvE : Less variety because of overnerfed modules (nosferatus, RSD, etc...), ROCKETS still not corrected FROM YEARS, etc... _______ With the NGE, I'm sorry about the mistake we made. We screwed up and didn't listen to the fans when we should have. - John Smedley, CEO of Sony Online Entertainment |

This, I don't think it matters what CCP does, it'll always be not enough to some people. I figure: hey this expansion is pretty nice, especially since I don't have to pay for it (the expansion itself, not subscription).
Does it have the most features no, but hell I have yet to see a bad expansion. I see them all good in different ways.
Besides the first thing I have learned is Eve players tend to make bad Devs. If Eve were the same it was 4 years ago it would have died by now, games evolve, and when I hear about players going, "oh my god CCP has lost its way, eve is dying, CCP sucks." I think about the fact that if the player base is still growing, CCP has to be doing somthing right. Besides CCP is doing what a company is designed to to, make more profits.
If you took the same concept to cars we would still be driving AMC Pacers and Gremlins today, because some of you . ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Always ascertain the vintage of the first two. |

Looooving all the personal attacks so far! Makes me warm and fuzzy knowing you clowns can't come up with anything else. It makes you look smart!
What if, instead of Planetary Interaction, CCP used the same man hours of development time to do the following:
Fix rockets
Buff BlackOps
Fix RSDs
Buff Assault Frigs with their added bonus
5th T3 subsystems
Balance/buff drone ships (give them their promised 'extra drone space')
Redesign the tracking formula
Fix blasters
Redesign the scanning system and put local everywhere into delayed mode
Added bookmarks on local grid to Tactical Overlay
Redesigned mining to be less macro-friendly and more interesting/entertaining/engaging
Etc. etc. etc.
The above list is an example of both new features and fixes to old systems, but the point is that all of them are focused on 'core' Eve problems that Eve players are clearly concerned about and interested in.
CCP talks about their scrum practices and being able to fill in all the small time slots with side projects. What if the Alienware implementation time was replaced by a Rocket fix? I think people would be happy instead of being indifferent. I'm sure even the people who HAVE Alienware keyboards don't care if their computers light up when the alarms go off. Heck, if I were them that would be the first thing I turn off.
CCP needs to take a step back and look at what is important to it's customers and address some of these issues. Just look at the Assembly Hall. It's full of them. -

Im sorry, but I cant agree with a word that the OP has said.
PI is going to be a big boon to pod pilots in New Eden...and it will mainly benefit new players with regards to its low entry level requirements. This means that new players are going to be able to get into something interesting very early on and feel like they are contributing to the already well established economy.
Its also going to allow the new players to own their own orbital objects, introducing them to the concept of POS'es very early on in the game and teach them how to defend them and operate them. This can only be good. PI will also be good for alliances and corps operating in 0.0 space, giving them another source of desperately valuable minerals.
EVEGate is another great addition to the game and will allow small to mid sized corps to have a place they can go to organize events without having to worry about the cost of owning their own website for this. This will relieve the worry that they might go over their bandwidth limit on these free website providers.
All in all, this is a very good and functional expansion for the game and provides a great foundation for CCP to further expand on them. The future looks very bright for this expansion and for EVE as a whole.

I must agree with the OP, this expansion is looking a little more as a patch.
They could do a little better than this.
On other hand the last expansion was really awesome.

While the new scorpion and texture models are nice, I would much rather have them fix various game problems like; Lag, Rockets, Drone, Hybrids, ships with fitting issues which make them difficult or impossible to achieve their roles, etc.

I'm paraphrasing, but:
Originally by: CCP soundwave" IÆll be honest, this feature is pretty damn cool. Mild apprehension because the design task involved is more difficult and critical than any other project CCP has done for years. Emo rage because any sane company would have spent a year or two building planetary interaction. Nevertheless, CCP decided a long time ago that we would leave sanity, and never back down from a challenge, so we went on our merry way."
I like soundwave. He's a real straight shooter, and fun to watch on the tournaments. But I take 1 look at this "shoot-from-the-hip" pressure put on these guys, and the end result after expansions get deployed (5 months of campaign-trashing lag, thousands of people up in arms about it but still nothing is fixed yet), and shake my head.
I just don't have the faith in CCP to pull it off the way they dream about. Thier marketing team rocks, thier develeloper team rocks, but someone needs to tell the head honchos to slow it the fark down. If the expansions weren't free, I wouldn't be buying them, the way they're trying to churn 'em out so fast, and buggy as all hell. \o |

Screw the Sin, I'm going for a Widow now
Don't know anything about Alienware keyboards, so not sure what the integration feature will bring about (if anyone wants to link me some details that'd be awesome).
As for the rest of the stuff mentioned in the OP...I started playing during QR, and it was awesome then, and it is just getting more awesome now...heh.

whats wrong with blasters?
also I have to agree, pretty poor ''expansion'' but I dont mind so long as they dont break anything (again) like quantum rise where the UI was broken for months, or apocrypha where they replaced all the cool effects with the same stupid swirly effect, or trinity where they deleted boot.ini or empyrean age which started off all the socked closed disconnects people get etc etc
its probably best they dont try and fix anything either, because they will just break it, like that time they fixed damps, or the time they fixed black ops or that time they fixed ewar modules by giving them fiddly stupid scripts or that time they fixed probing to make it the most irritating mini-game ever concieved etc etc
in fact they should probably stop releasing expansions

Yeah, if they'd fix Gallente in the same expansion as PI then I'd let them off the hook for lack of core Eve development, but I don't see that happening lol. It doesn't have anything to do with Gallente for me either. I'd just like to see some of these long standing issues taken care of. -
