I've been into Eve for about 4,5 months or so now. Castor was all fine and good when it comes to performance. Aside from some graphics and loading lag in big battles or large astroid fields, I haven't had a complaint.
Naturally, as Exodus was deployed, I was optimistic. I mean, I have been running the game stable for 4 months, what could happen. Apparently a LOT could happen.
It started with text wrapping. Somehow on my screen the text didn't wrap and I had text all over the screen. That problem was solved by downloading the latest NVidia Drivers but that created a new problem. I can't alt-tab out of the game without it crashing, unless I play in Windowed mode. Since I hate both windowed mode and looking at a screen for 12 jumps of travel this kinda blows. Note that in Castor I could alt-tab out perfectly well without it ever crashing.
And of course that's not all. I heard of some people's game crashing when they undocked. While not a victim of that until last sunday, my Eve client simply closes right after loading up space about 50% of the time. To add insult to injury, the unexplainable crashing of the client ALSO happens pretty often in midspace, perferably after loading up a 'stage' in a deadspace complex, making my hunt for a passkey a total waste of time.
So, today I got home from a long day of work. Was hoping to get an hour of Eve time in. After all, it got patched today, so you may assume some things are actually fixed. So what did I find out?
1) The market doesn't work. 2) My corp chat channel didn't show up until I logged off and logged on again 3) The lag made even fitting a ship impossible 4) I couldn't undock AT ALL. Yeah, sure, unless I want to undock, close Eve and start in space every time I exit a station. I get stuck at a black screen with not even a loading bar.
In short, the game's been unplayable for almost a week now. Do you guys realize I'm actually paying for this? Some customer support other than joking about 'Amarr for teh win' would be a good idea, no?

...trust me... Castor deployment was pretty much WORSE than Exodus deployment. Yes it is laggy atm, and yes it is a bit unplayable... but you wouldn't imagine how Castor runned on the 1st weeks when was deployed... -------------------

So Grimpak what does that have to do with this. We are talking about the current situation, not the issues you had when castor was released. If you have put banana to your rear end days ago why should i have to do the same?

I realize a deployment like this has it problems.
I just don't think CCP realizes people want to be informed. Look, all I'm asking for is a known/confirmed issues list. And no, I don't mean the utter chaos that the sticky 'known issues' thread is.
I mean something like this. (Disclaimer, I realize that this is not an MMO , but it was just the first example I could think up).
It would matter a whole lot to a whole lot of people if they just knew a certain bug is being worked on. Now it's guessing if it's your videocard of drivers that are incompatible with the new client or an actual game bug.
I mean, if it's the first, might as well stop trying and quit playing, if it's the second, I'm sure most people are more than happy to wait for a fix.

heh, CCP better fix the lag issues or off back to Final Fantasy XI I go. This game is almost as bad as Ragnarok Online when it was in second open beta when it comes to lag.

With a expansion of this size huge bug's are expected to surface. As was mentioned before when Castor came in Eve was a nightmare to play for 2-3 weeks afterwards, when one bug got fixed 2 more took it's place. I really don't expect to see Shiva show it's full potential until maybe Mid-December, right now I'm pretty much taking no risks in Eve, because of the lag, the disconnects, the chat lag etc etc etc.

Fine - have no problem with the issues - but wft? Can someone show me the linkage with where a dev says - sorry guys, markets fubared in a few places, and the lags a killer right now.
ie - lag means you loose your ship, and then you can't buy a new one.
The fact the game after Exodus release isn't fully functional isn't much of a suprise. To be treated like a mushroom isn't particularily good customer relations.
Can some dev/mod/isd whoever make a post somewhere please about todays patch issues please.

Edited by: djaccity on 03/12/2004 00:57:32 You know I am hearing alot about when eve 1st started up problems it had
But see we not in 1st days of eve I mean look at how many players playing now compared to 1st days The problem is not thinking ahead of time I fealt the test for shiva was to solve matters before they went live
Now in USA I know alot play over seas so useing USA I pay $14.95 a month to play eve Now I have played online games before that you pay for Take MCO Motorcityonline When a patch would hit we would have problems but would be problems fixed rate away Now maybe EA Games is higher Tech then who runs eve I am not sure
But I do know as of lately I feel money I am paying to play eve is unfair to me as a customer
I as the customer am not getting what is described as to what I am paying for
Ok so to some 14.95 is not much a month and to some it is alot to play a game every month Then have some that have couple accounts so they loseing more
I think it time creators of eve finally start reading the threads and see what players saying and relize the not thinking before you launch a whole new eve and not think of problems that will come with it and people who will go try a new game and leave eve and there goes there funding
Don't get me wrong I enjoy eve alot the concept is cool But the problems lately are worse then the fun Every time some one complains all you hear from others is your a whiner No not a whiner just a customer who wants what he/she is paying for thats all
Now they did a patch today ok so we had a few small issues with game nothing major that stopped you from playing sense they took out deadspace missions and few other things but worked fine Then along comes a SMALL patch and all hell breaks out and all we hear is excuses on whats wrong what could be wrong and to wait for DT to say anything And that is wrong we should not have to wait 15 hours for DT to start to find if problem fixed itself
I am sorry to say if eve can't get its act togeather I will go to a game that I like and pay to play there
Eve is a good idea but recently failing to make its customers happy that is bottom line any game

CmdoColin, what's wrong with mushrooms? :)
I've gotten so mad at the game in the last couple days that I've decided to not play for a bit. I take this game too seriously and when I can't buy/sell anything or even undock without relogging, I'm freakin mad.
So I'll login, attend to R&D and change skills, then log back out if the market is still borked.
What doesn't make sense to me is that the market WAS working after the initial Exodus patch, in fact the game was WAY better then than NOW after the most recent patch.
CCP, please get these things fixed.

CCP have released an incomplete update because they know they can. Live with it for a few weeks. Obviously a professional business software company could not do this, but hey we're gamers! who gives a ****!
