I eman I dont wnaan start from scratch but rather buy it and enter the cd-key or whatever to play another month and after that buy gametime cards.

I don't know if it will work. My gues is not, but it's a gues.
But why buy the game in a store? You already have the (up to date) client.

Edited by: MinorFreak on 03/12/2004 12:04:17 uh....that's because a store bought copy allows the use of a "CD-key" that gives a month's "free" play (meaning instead of the activation cost after downloading, she's paid the fee at a store) ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

it wont work, u will have to start a new char if u buy a new box copy
why not just pay the $20 to buy from this site? that includes 30 days of game time too

If I understand it correctly all you would do is go to edit my account on this site and type in the CD key from the box, this would then give you a full time account with the free months play. Your characters wouldn't be affected as it would be the same account.
At least that is whe happened with mine, but I pay by credit card. ---------------------------------------------

You can pay for the game at your local bank too. Go through the steps for paying online but instead of choosing credit card, select bank transfer. It¦ll give you a page to print out and take to your bank to arrange a transfer.

Fiber. believe me when i say the trial account, if it truly is your first time playing, will be seen as quaintly naive a few months from now and you'll kick yourself for not starting afresh with a cheap storebought CD key that avoids that nasty "activation fee"
as for transferring your stuff? it's quite easy to do via "Escrow" (just escrow all your old stuff to your new account character)the way i'd do it, if i was you, would be to- create new character with gibberish name
- escrow all your stuff to this character and give all your cash too (buy a shuttle so you can transfer your current ship as well)
- log out, go back to game and terminate your old character
- go buy that box at the store for cheap, go home, grab the CD-key and activate a new account...
- now, once the 10 hours go by, finish deleting your old character, to free the name up again
- login with your new account, create your character (btw, did you know that click dragging on your character face during creation can rotate the BODY?) and get your old name back
- enter the old account one last time to escrow everything to your new account
bling!
BTW, i'm not going to suggest character transfer between (active) accounts because that costs money. and i'm assuming the spirit of this thread is "how to save money on account creation"...and even though your first character is near and dear right now, your sentimental attitude is sure to *poof* once you read my previous section ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

I've talked to a GM in the past. If you are on a trial account and decide to purchase a CD Key (online or in store) you can petition the GM's to move your character from your trial account to your permanent paid account. They will do this without charge.
