is it me, or does it look crap? rag and avatar have awesome effects, then you have the loliathan which shoots a ****load of missiles, just to go 'b.......oom...zzz'

Seen them all, tons of times, the only one where effort went into is the Avatar DD, the rest are between "meh" and "end of business day folks".

Holy crap, that is awesome  i'd prefer they bring this back to be honest, just a shame that it wouldnt be relevant as its not area of effect anymore

I liked the old effects... The Avatar has a pretty obvious new effect that is really what everyone expected. I think one of the biggest issues is that theres no build-up or die-down effects. More like ka-****ing boom giant swirly thingy of doom and then it disappears... I want to see the damn things charge at least a little bit before they make the world kersplode. Oh, and the Leviathan has the stupidest new effect...

there should be 5-10 second build up effect for DDD, that would be better for PvP dynamics too. Because it would make using titans against small ships a little more difficult (yes I have been DD'ed in my solo battleship before)

Old Ragnarok DD was definately more theatrical. New DD effects need some work, imo. Very Cookie Cutter. Obvious Avatar DD is obvious, works for that ship. |

im pretty sure it takes 15secs now (though i cant be arsed to actually check)

I always envisioned the Aurora Ominae like this:
Firing begins with three swirling black balls with onion skin from the rear of the ship, approaching the front of the ship. They grow in size as they approach the front of the ship. When they reach the front, they fire an expanding blobby bolt of charged particles at the target. When they hit, the target is consumed by the "void" and a large black bubble surrounds it. If the ship is destroyed, the bubble fades away. If the ship survives, the bubble surrounding sort of fluctuates wildly then dissipates.

The current DD's, with sort-of the exception of the Avatar, are the most disappointing effects in any game, ever to be quite honest.

Erebus has a lame DD as well since dominion  The AOE version used to be somewhat cool and threatening, now you're just throwing a small bolt of green whatever-it-is when you push the button. Very dissapointed when I first saw it after Dominion.. Rag definately has the coolest effect still.
