When you loot items, on the bottom right side of your cargo bay/container etc, it has an estimated market value. Often I find this number to be drastically incorrect when I go to sell my looks on the market, with more often than not the number to be less than half (occasionally it is higher though ^^ )
Is their a way to update this with current market values? Or is it something that will fix itself in time? Iam of limited intelligence, and could not find something about this on the forums allready :<
Also, this is my first time in the Market Discussion forums, I see a lot of people selling shares/bonds, is it all just a scam like the contracts in game? |

The estimated value is from the sell order transactions across eve from a while back.
You can't adjust it. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/

Save it all up and sell it in Jita, The competition among the traders will ensure you get a decent rate for your loot, Otherwise your offering it for sale in an area where there may be little competition so the prices offered will be next to nothing. |

All your questions have been answered, and in only two posts, I'm amazed!
Anyway. You could simply check the market (like in the "dark old days" ) to get a pretty good "approximated" value. Alternatively, you could check (in example) Eve-Central for the item, to see some inter-region prices. It will sort of "fix itself" with time, when the markets decide to stabelize for longer than the time it takes for the "estimated value" field to be updated (which, according to a dev post/blog is automated)
To your second question w.r.t shares and bonds.. Well, some of them are, some aren't. Most are a form of roleplay. Investing is like flying a ship; don't do it, if you can't afford to lose it. |

Some are scams, most scams get revealed within 20 minutes from being posted. Others are not scams, like most things in EvE you can profitably deal with bonds if you know what you are doing. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

This.
Be mindful and do research before investing. If you're smart about it, then you'll most likely end up with a pleasing result. However, understand that in EVE, it's always a risk. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. |
