I'm noticing with most every posted fit with blasters, they use Caldari navy antimatter S instead of Void S, even when using T2 blasters.
tl;dr version Why?
Long version I'm not quite following why to use the faction charges, with the -50% range instead of T2 with the -25% range. Of course, if you're going to try staying farther away there's other charges you would use. Caldari does a combined 13.8 dmg (8.05 kin, 5.75 therm) Void does a combined 14 dmg (7 kin, 7 therm) (not a huge difference, I can ignore that) Am i right in interpreting the tracking modifier in "half as good of tracking" or is it "twice as good". Can't quite figure out from the wording in the game. If it's half as good of tracking, well that makes sense. But kinda sucks that T2 ammo isn't worthwhile and could use an overhaul to make them viable. Other thing is the extra cap usage. Is that really an issue on the T2 ammo? I guess, is it worth the extra 400 or so extra isk per round to fire faction ammo over T2?

Hail, Void and Conflag are all inferior to the navy close range ammo due to their too heavy penalties for little yield. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a similar note, is there a difference between the federation navy and caldari navy or just a standard that everyone lists caldari cause more pilots fly caldari or whatever?

no difference between fed navy/cald navy. Cald navy is listed however because EFT lists cald navy, but not fed navy.

Void S does more thermal damage so it's better against shields. It also lets you orbit farther away. This increases your velocity which reduces the damage you receive from missiles.
However, against large gunships you usually want to orbit at 500m so that their guns can't track you. Void can still hit a big target from 500m away, despite the tracking penalties, but it has trouble hitting drones so small navy antimatter is better in most situations.
Essentially, use void against cruiser and larger missile boats if you're not worried about drones. Caldari/Federation Navy Antimatter S (they have the same stats) is better in almost all situations.

The range difference is meaningless by the way. If you fail to stay within -50% chances are you cannot stay within -25% either. So there is no real range advantage from Void, especially at frig/cruiser combat. Also the falloff with faction AM is bigger so you start hitting earlier while you're approaching. There is about zero reason to use Void. ---- Sarmaul's crosstrainorgtfo |

Like you've already said, the damage difference is almost non-existent, and the difference between -25% and -50% range on most small blaster boats is small enough that it doesn't really matter. What does hurt is the tracking penalty and the increased Cap consumption, especially since it's not uncommon for a blaster boat to not be cap-stable with AM, let alone Void. It basically ends up that the slight benefits from Void (tiny bit more DPS, tiny bit more range, and a tiny bit more thermal damage) are out-weighed by the penalties associated with it.
As for Caldari Navy AM vs Fed Navy AM, they're both identical, it just comes down to whatever is cheapest in your area (which often ends up being FNAM). That, and EFT doesn't have an option for CNAM.
