Seriously, where is the logic in releasing an expansion for a game that has broken sound? I know this has been said many times before, but it doesn't seem like their listening.

I'd like to see an official response to this though. If they do respond whoever does must have balls, what excuse could they possibly have? It's embarassing really.

Confirming that concept artists, art directors, and the people developing new expansions are the same people who create the sound engine.
CCP is actually one superhuman who can only perform exactly one task at a time, so if they're adding new music or making a new expansion, they're clearly ignoring all bugs. |

Listening requires hearing which requires sound that works!
All kidding aside, they're working on it.

I never said that.

See, CCP has a policy where only the employees who work on a particular feature can discuss it on the forums. This makes sense and all, of course, to prevent misinformation.
The problem with this policy is, since nobody at CCP works on the sound engine, there's nobody to comment on it and, as such, you can't expect a dev comment. __________

The problem stems from a major shortage of people in Iceland that hold a degree in Making Spaceship Noises. So many students in higher education take the course in Keyboard Light Flashing instead - that's all you can hire nowadays.

Interestingly if you look on the game credits you can see they only have one sound engineer. Also only one UI designer.
It might be an idea to recruit moar in these areas since sound is currently broken and UI is probably the most common complaint. ---

As CCP has now mostly only marketing people in his staff, so they know that to attract new players, the new players must do "WHOAAAAAA!" when they play the game. And to get this reaction, it is not by the sound engine, but by the GRAPHICS.
So they just update the graphic engine and are going to remodel all ships, beginning by the Scorpion in Tyrannis.
Sound ? This don't make money, so it will be like Rockets : Maybe it will be corrected in three years, not before. _______ With the NGE, I'm sorry about the mistake we made. We screwed up and didn't listen to the fans when we should have. - John Smedley, CEO of Sony Online Entertainment |

Confirming that whoever made the sound engine for EVE is no longer with CCP. So the sad truth is that they do not have a single employee left that could work on the sound engine, so we all better get used to the current situation...

And what makes you think that CCP hasn't done anything about it? Fixes doesn't belong in feature list anyway...

Its a shame theyve neglected sound for all these years. Imagine any great battles from movies with a shallow sound like the one in eve still is. Instead having all kinds of stuff going and being able to listen into it would be awesome.
Hell id be happy if theyd fix the jukebox so that itd keep playing and not randomly stop.

Yeah, I would love to have my audio on when having multiple clients logged in. Otherwise my computer randomly takes a **** because it hates handling sound from too many sources.
