This one boggles the mind a little.
Why just one model update for the scorpion? What exactly is the selling point there? ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

Why not?

Well, usually if there is an update...say ship models, they are ALL done. At least that is how it's done on planet common sense.
That's like a car company releasing the same car model but claiming "HEY!! It now has a new steering wheel!" as a selling point. ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

They are updating the way textures are done in the engine.
The scorpion is just the first to be effected.

Commen sense to you maybe, you who know jack about CCP's work flow and Design plans, maybe the new texture engine is the bigger piece of the pie and the texture them self can be released down stream.

What I do know about CCP's workflow is that there really is no rhyme or reason to it. Major changes are put in incremental patches, while minor changes are in major ones.
Go figure. ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

You're welcome to implement design overhauls in the code that is EVE, provided CCP lets you. Go on! If it's so easy. Geez. ________________________

Well, that was a productive comment. Fell better now?
Now quit trolling me and post something coherent. I asked a valid question and you fanbois act like I just insulted your mother. Grow up kiddies. It's just a game, it's just a software company, and it's just your money. ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

Feel better? No change
Something coherent? Well doing that is not an easy task. Other models will follow suit eventually. ________________________

Because CCP love caldari.
Or, they just had time for one model update before all being yanked away to go design doodads and widgets for PI _____________________ Horrors! Demons in the deep! |

I'm betting that the rest of the ships that miss getting put in tyrannis will get mostly finished over the next two expansions. CCP seems to be dedicating its entire workforce to dust and incarna so it makes sense that most of the stuff we are getting teased with in this micro expansion will come then. One hopes at least.

remember, domi is still missing turrets and engine trails. not that i care much, except for when i want to see if an enemy domi is packing turrets. funny to me that they would ignore that glaring problem and instead give a facelift to a ship that doesnt need it.

Oh please god no... The scorpion is shocking and the textures have harsh problems for some people. Scorpion and Widow look identical almost! The textures switch and swap between layers depending on what angle you are looking at them on. I think its still the case on Sisi for me and on my desktop pc also. I hope to god they don't ruin other ships.
Finally... Why ruin the already awesome scorpion model :(
If anything the blackbird is the one which needs touching up. It has beantins for thrusters!

Only ships that need changing are what? The scorp, raven, and the typhoon? 1 out of 3 isn't too bad. ------

I'm pretty sure CCP did it so Nooba Q'Qer could make another whine thread. ~_~ (Retired from ship toasting. Now a professional.)

They said in the dev blog ALL ships will be redone with the new T3 ship textures, which provide better shading effects and are crisper.
This however will be done over multiple expansions, the Scorpion is a taste of what's to come.

Test run perhaps to see if it really matters to us.

The probably spent most of the time implementing how the new models/shaders/etc work, and sat down in a meeting and said, "we have time to change one model before Tyrannis, pick one" and they picked the scorp.

well a lot of minnie hulls can benefit from some work to make them more similar in style across the board... same goes for many cladari ships
the pest model for example is quite outdated now... well as the ship itself... hope they will give it a look :P

Unfortunately, rather than address the slot layout/tanking issues for Minmatar the Devs have simple declared that it makes us "versitile".
