I am experiencing difficulty with some of the more advanced features/aspects of the new Exodus marketplace. A couple of questions, for starters:
- In the "Buyers" half of the marketplace window, sometimes some of the listings are highlighted with a green line... what does this mean? What can I do with this information?? WHAT is the green line trying to tell me??? WHY must it taunt me so????

- Assume the following scenario:
- In Solarsystem Alpha there are three stations: I, II and III.
- I am physically located at Station I; I have Marketing and Procurement trained to lvl 3.
- My megacyte is located at Station II.
- A buyer shows on my list (highlighted in green) at Station III with a great price.
I have selected the megacyte in my inventory and chose "Sell This Item" from the r.click menu; set a price equal to that offer at Station III, with a duration of "Immediate".
The only response I've ever gotten is that the broker was unable to find a match.
Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong? As I understand it, this should be possible, provided I have the Marketing and Procurement skills (and I do). Shouldn't it sell immediately, since I'm selling for a price that's available right next door?

Yes I'd like an answer to what the "green line" items are also.
Thought originally they might be for orders carried over from Castor that would expire in 2 weeks but I dont think this is so.
Dev reply requested....

Green buy orders are orders that you can sell to at a station in the current system. Specifically:
1) Orders with "Station" range at a station in the system--you must travel to the correct station (if you travel to another station and then look at the market, this will no longer appear green.)
2) Orders with "System" range anywhere in the system--you may travel to any station in the system to sell to these orders.
3) Orders with "n Jump" ranges at systems within n jumps of the current system--you may travel to any station in the system you are currently in (or any other system within range of the target system) to sell to these orders.
4) Orders with "Region" ranges at systems in the region--you may travel to any station in the region to sell to these orders.
If you are looking for an order to sell to, note that the orders with larger ranges are likely to be for lower prices than the orders with smaller ranges--this is because the buyer will have to travel to wherever you sell the item to pick it up. If it's a single station range, that's just one spot. If it's an entire region range, the buyer is going to have to travel all over to pick up the goods that various people have sold in different places.
On the side of a buyer, these orders are a convenient way for *haulers* to collect large amounts of materials over a wide area. Something I haven't seen much of yet, but expect to see more of in the future, is high range buy orders with minimum quantities. That combination should allow the buyers to increase their buy prices without worrying that they'll have to travel to a distant station just to pick up pocket change.
Another thing that may some day increase the prices on these buy orders is contracts--if a buyer can easily set up a haulage contract for some *other* player to haul the goods to a central place, the buyer should be able to raise the prices for these wide-ranging orders.
Hope that helps!

Oh--and to really see the impact of this, take your goods to a station that has no station-range orders for the good you're selling, and execute a quick sell. You'll see that the price reported is the best price that is green-hilighted at that station (even though that station has no orders locally.)
If you try to sell items remotely using assets, you'll have to look harder at the market screen: green hilights are only with respect to the current location of your ship.

Incidentaly, I've started to do this with a few of the more common commodities I trade, so I agree with your prediction. :)

This would make the green line, "orders that can be filled 'directly'" to match the terminology CCP is using in the skill descriptions.

The broker can not find a match because
- the person that put in the buy-ask order set his fill distance to station only because he did not want to fly about picking up minerals from all over the system.
- The person that put in the buy-ask order set his minimum quantity to higher than you are providing because he did not want to fly about picking up 1-2 units of minerals at a time.
In my experience most mineral orders are either station only, or large quantity. I never seen too many any-station, any-amount orders for minerals. I seen them for other items like Basic Gyrostabilizers though, at scam prices. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

I am still having problems understanding the green highligted buy orders and the value found in the range portion of the buyers screen.
I am in a station which has a buy order. The buy order line is shown in green. When I try to sell the item to the station, a low ball sell price is presented. I look at the buyers market listing I can see the low sales price comes from another station and that the range field says "Region". The low ball bid is also in green.
In a previous explanation, it was mentioned that if the range is "station", you must go there to sell the item. I did. In this case the station has a buy bid, yet the green highlighted buy order with a range of "region" is over-riding the local buy order.
Is it suppose to work that way? Is the low ball order suppose to take precedence over the station order.

The station order might have a minimum ammount that is blocking you from selling to it. Otherwise, your understanding of the system seems all right.

Technically, all sell orders are green since you can buy from a sell order anywhere in the same region. I guess there wasn't much of a point in hilighting every single entry so they left them black.
