A movie would have servere problems.
1) There are no real characters in Eve - ie people - the "action" rotates purely around ships which most people would find very difficult to directly relate to. Or in other words no love, family, relationships. fairness, righteousness - even the politics is pretty base and devoid of ethics.
2) The motivation for "action" in Eve does not rotate around the traditional aspects of most people's lives. Eve rotates around wealth either in ISK, Ships, Material, Modules, Market Domination, Terrritory or sheer grief. Most of these aspects do not foster a great movie.
3) The twisted Eve universe with it's myriad of pro null security status and low security status bias and anti High Security status environment is the complete reverse of modern society.
Overall I think most people would shun the main basis of the world of Eve,,, it's even mirrored in the fact most people live in High Sec - much to the annoyance of those who have directed Eve.
Any movie based on Eve that would stand any success would have to be based on the complete reverse of what Eve is for it to stand any success in the box office.
So dream on.
Here I would say I don't like much of Eve and don't relate to the majority of how Eve works, but I pick and chose the parts I interact with and value my friendships more than the way Eve works.

As long as the trailer was awesome. It wouldn't matter what the finished film looked like.

Eve Online the movie wouldnt work unless it was an animated toy story like movie. (as in 3d animation) using real actors would never work. U could use real actor's to do voice overs though.
A movie about the Caldari Captain that valiantly drops his phoenix into rescue all the caldari off the caldari home world during the gallente assault could be a plot to work with.
the sequel could be about the minmatar rebellion against amarr (with it starting off with a Jovian fleet spanking a large Amarr fleet allowing for the minmatar rebellion to kick off) SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

If you think Apple is stingy with IP...7 years and 1 1/3 books to show for OOG development.
And to the person who had the idea of using REAL actors to do the voiceovers for an animated EvE movie...GENIUS. CCP was going to use cats, but hey...
Also, is this how the meeting goes: "Hey, I got this great idea from browsing Youtube..."

Why a movie?..
Why not a series, usually costs less than movies, and attract a broader audience, and has a faster production rate. As for the story line, it can be anything - just set in the EVE Universe.
I myself wouldn't mind a series depicting the battle between Gallente and Caldari or Amarr and Minmatar.
Now, i havnt written scripts ever - but a general story line shouldn't be too hard to come up with. As for getting someone to make it, hah, good luck..
Can only be more awesome than that piece of **** that is Stargate Universe.. GOD it sucks..

Edited by: Seul Manus on 13/05/2010 20:09:27 Well if you want a stroy line for a script with various characters and settings, in a WHSmith here in England last Friday I saw a Empyrean Age paperback novel. It was around inches thick, so you'd get a good Eve story aout of that.
