CCP Dropbear, you've managed to spark my interest to a new high i've never had in EVE prior to this day.
Between my four accounts I've tried a multitude of things, but none involved diving into lore.
Not saying i don't care for it, but I simply was occupied in other fields to be focussed on anything plotwise.
This time round however, thoughts are going through my mind like: I need to dismantle my Lowsec PoS's and halt my productions and rally buddies to dive into the lore exploration in Wormhole space!"
The fact that its up to the playerbase to unravel the mysteries is a very nice approach.
Take the risk and see what you can discover.
Fabulous. Simply fabulous.
/puts on explorer hat and says nn to empire and lowsec space.

Without straying off topic, one thing about Sleepers makes me wonder...
Why do they lack shields?
Or at least some of them?
Admittedly I havent seen many Sleepers yet, but those I encountered seem to lack these.
Anyone?

Without getting in over my head here, this struck me as odd pretty quickly ever since i've met my first Sleeper.
So many debates about backgrounds, mysteries and such, but no one ever seems to have adressed this obvious oddity.
From my point of view our "current" ships all require shields of some sort, if only - in my theory - to protect the ships hull integrity or whatnot.
How come Sleeper ships do not require them?
Is their hull technology so advanced that shields are no more than a unneccesary source of power?
Maybe I'm giving this too much importance, but I am interested why they are as strong as they are and 'settle' for 'just' armor and structural defenses.
It might have zero to do with the Sleeper background, but it definately deserves some insight.

THIS is exactly what crossed my mind when typing my reply one post earlier.
Doesn't that set you to thinking tho, that they might have set up such a defense versus Terran specific weaponry...

I havent read the Empyrean Age novel but consider this.
Does the novel state anywhere for a fact that the Terran device was intended to be used as a weapon?
Could it not have been a device intended to create 'gates' like the EVE gate, blowing holes into the very fabric of space itself?
Just a thought from a underinformed curious Amarrian that is dying to read the novel.
