Hey guys, im interested in your opinions on the top 5 or 10 pirate corps or alliances in eve?
now lets not get all emo and sh*t talk everyone elses comments, lets just see what everyones opinion is, although i will set some things that must be fulfilled to be categorised as "pirates" imo, so in your opinion name a few of the best pirate corps or alliances that also meet the following:
1) have a reputation of a corp that roams at least 50% of the time, and is considered to be good at it. 2) is -10 and live in low sec or lives in Null Sec and has very limited blues with a NBSI policy. 3) has a proven reputation (ie: older than a year and has some stats to back up a claim to be a good pirate corp/alliance), this doesnt mean have uber k/d or isk ratio's, it means have a rep as a good pvp corp. (stat chasers do not = good or brave pvp'ers)
lets see your opinions.

- Veto corp - possibly one of the oldest old-school corps
- The united - masters of gatecamp
- Python cartel - roamers, lowsec
- Hellfleet - roamers, lowsec, mynxee
- HYDRA RELOADED - 0.0 roaming pirate corp
Many more exist, but aside from us that's the names that came up into my head. I find it hard to make a metric in which you can rate the pirate corp, since they operate in vastly diffrent areas of space with very different space socio-economic/demographic structures.

Pretty close to traditional representations of piracy
Quote: Hellfleet - roamers, lowsec, mynxee
Mynxee is a darling, but last i heard was involved with BANE Alliance and Villrath; could be a brainfart here? Thats enough to make most people abstain.

Quality corp and pilots, provided you can put up with the colorful personalities and personality cult.

No idea about BANE, the thing is the smaller, and more old school pirate corps rarely post these forums. On C&P you mostly hear about some of the bigger 0.0 roaming corps, with postive security statuses, or the corps mainly focusing sitting in 1 lucrative system, killing everything comming through the adjacent high-sec gate.
HYDRA, well i only know of Genos in hydra, but i guess the alliance as a whole is a pvp focused one.
The first one is not one that i would brand as a pirate corp, great players no doubt, but not a pirate in the traditional sense (below -5 sec status). The latter is actually a good representation on how piracy started, m0o camping, smartbombing, and destrpoing concord in highsec.
Don't think piracy is dying, just don't think many of them post on C&P.
I'm fairly new to piracy (about 1 year) but i see lots of flashies in space that i haven't seen post on C&P.

Serious, non-trollin' question: what is it about that play style that appeals to you?
As for the OP, the corps I've seen doing small gang/solo stuff while on my own roams are the bastards, mean corp, hellfleet, python cartel, blood money, and the tuskers. I've also run into a lot of black rabbit academy members doing the whole solo or roaming with a wingman thing, but never any full-fledged rabbits other than Stuart Price. There's also a lot of good pilots who keep to themselves, more or less, and just like to pew rather than shooting their mouths off on the foramz; some in FW, some just doing their own thing. Also a few very scary russians, although I tend to remember individual pilots' names rather than corps in those cases, I'm sad to say.

Regardless, there are still quite a few keen pirates in Hellcats and Hellhounds. who enjoy casual small gang roaming with ransom/loot as the objective. Neither corp has very stringent skill point or experience requirements, so might be a good place for someone looking to get started as a pirate.
I've flown with a lot of corps mentioned in this thread, but special shout-out to two of them:
- The Bastards for being awesome former alliance mates and masterful ransomers.
- Death of Virtue for giving me my initial education in low sec piracy a couple of years ago. I have sooo many fond memories of killing cap ships and other stuff in Decon back in the day.

I'd think anyone who actually pvp's in low sec , not just camps.
corps that see a 10 man remote bs gang and make them eat space with a 5 man gang now thats pvp.
alas not too many around these days.
russian thunder squad from -aaa- are not too bad , but they do like the gank more then a good fight. Final agony wern't too bad till they decided kills were more important than fights.
We've fought alot of smaller corps/alliances that like a good low sec fight (without the station games ***gotry ect) So they are out there.

I'll elaborate on my views on The United.
You are terrible, have become a cautionary tale of what happens when a 'pirate' corp gets fat and lazy, stagnates and then either forgets how to do anything but gently caress gates or no longer have the players to do anything else.
Your current membership reflects the rut you are in and the insecurity of what passes for leadership that ever slight has to be challenged, though sadly you are all bark and wobbly toothed halitosis laden bite.
Hell, i thought you were sliding before the split with Larks merry band of man lovers but this is a new low right now.

Still around and still piloting.
Admittedly we're a little quieter than usual as it's getting toward the end of the Academic year and we have a lot of people sitting uni exams and suchlike.
Still here, and steaming toward a sixth year of operation without a break, emoraegdisband or any other such trivial drama that usually befalls the average pirate corp.
