Edited by: Stanislav Masudov on 08/05/2010 19:03:28 Hey guys, i think this is the first time ive been active on the forum, and its more of a plea than a question. Here's is the story:
I just recently re-activated me EVE account. I logged in and found myself where i left myself ages agp. I was looking at my ships to remind myself of their fittings. I went to make my cynabal, The Count of Tuscany, my active ship. I was talking to my friend who has also recently rejoined eve, and while talking, i thought i hit the make active button and then waited for my ship to load up. After 5 mins, i realised the ship wasnt appearing. Then looking into the ships tab, i noticed it wasnt there. I then looked in my assets and found it wasnt there.Looking back at it, it seems that i most likely pressed trash it, and deleted my cynabal from history.
Now the question. Is there any way possible to get my cynabal back, or am i just gonna be left devastated on my return to eve?

hi cat here
if you did indeed trash it, then you can file a petition and perhaps it can be recovered. i heard that some GMs will do this "only once".
tl;dr: maybe you can get it back via petition, chances are not great though.

Trashed is gone. There is no 'untrash' button.
GM might do it for noobs with tutorial mission items, but otherwise, move on.
Sorry

Edited by: Dan O''Connor on 08/05/2010 19:06:32 If you hit "Trash it..." - you should have gotten a warning, provided that is your setting. If you pressed yes on the warning (if you got it), then this ship is in fact, lost.
However if you indeed did indeed Make Active, then it's Petition time. ________________________

Stanislav,
First of all, it's not a stupid question. The answer to this one, however, can only come from the GMs. Please file a petition and explain what happened. I hope it works out for you.

Incase you want wanted to know when it happened, it was about 10-15 misn before i posted this thread
Yeah, i did remember a warning screen(which meens i did trash it) but at the time of doing it, i havent played since August 09, so i think i probably thought the warning sign was asking if i did want to make it active. Ill try filing a petition to see if i can get it back, if not then ill just have to look at the long road ahead to get the 300mil + ISK needed(or whatever the price is ) to replace it.
EDIT: Petition Filed

I wanted to criticize you disabling the warning, but the post timeout got me. It's even better - you get a warning "Hey, are you REALLY SURE you want to throw out the 300M ship?" and you just go "whatever, I don't care". Reimbursing items lost due to server problems is one thing, but this was entirely your fault. And it's not like you didn't know about some obscure game mechanic, you could not read a one-liner warning you exactly about the thing you were about to do.
Oh, I didn't care about the notifications and didn't pay my sov bills, can I get systems back? I didn't read the wardec email and got killed in hisec, can I get my ship back?

Edited by: Stanislav Masudov on 08/05/2010 20:55:44 Edited by: Stanislav Masudov on 08/05/2010 20:53:40 That sucks :(
When i went to click Make Active, im pretty sure i did click it :( Thats why i thought hte messgae box that popped up was just a confirm type box. Eg like the ones im so used to on Vista - Are you sure you want to copy this file to here - Yes, i wanted to do that! - I normally accept these unless i know i clicked the wrong thing, which i normally do.
Turns out the one time i didnt notice i clicked the wrong thing, i lose my coolest and favourite ship
I think i was also not concentrating much. I was talking to ym freind who was wanting my help trying to get him out of G5 alive.
PS Maybe the trash it button should be at the bottom of the list? (not gonna happen, but still )

Disable those for actions you always want to do and can be easily undone at worst (Do you want to repackage this item? / Do you want to plug in this implant?) and keep an eye on the important ones (If you do this you get CONCORDOKKENED! / Entering lowsec system in a Badger!).

Quoting the offical reimbursement policy:
Quote:
5. RECYCLED ITEMS
Recycling is a feature offered at many stations. Players may use the recycling facilities to ômelt downö unwanted items into their component minerals.
1. Ships recycled either intentionally or accidentally may be reimbursed at the discretion of a GM, but only if the minerals received have not been moved from the original recycling station.
http://www.eveonline.com/pnp/reimbursment.asp
I find it hard to believe that they'd make a difference between trashing and recycling. But then I've seen GMs do quite some other stuff too...
*EDIT* And yes, I'm aware of the "at the discretion of a GM" part. That's exactly why it's not "most likely not going to happen"

Ive been sooo close to doing the same thing as well...the moron who put the "make active" and the "trash it" buttons right on top of each other shouldnt be let near an abacus let alone let loose on game design...[/rant]
Maybe a "trash can" feature...keeps trashed items for say 2 days then automatically dumps them after the second down time.

It's not like recycling where you get something from it. I definitely don't see anything wrong with a 'holding bin' for trashed items. I mean, think of it as a space-curb; trash collection doesn't run instantaneously 23/7 now does it?

Sounds like a worthy addition to me, I have never done this bit it sounds like it might cut down on GM's petition load with the same kinds as the OP's

there are some warnings you CANT disable, do you want to trash this is one of them. repackaging is another, and heh repackaging + destroying a bunch of rigs isn't easily undone.

On a side note: "Trash" is right next to "Make Active".
It's easy to make this mistake because the menu layout is one of the worst UI design disasters in EVE.

Nice layout. However I'd appriciate if the 'reprocess' was a bit further away from 'trash it'.

'Trash' has to go next to something, and it makes sense to keep the 2 most destructive options next to each other. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

I have made the same mistake, trashed a newly build myrmidon instead of a velator that was right next to it, and got it reimbursed by petitioning it.

Just drag the ship from your hangar into the station main screen (where you spin the ship). It makes the ship active without the risk of accidentally trashing your ships.
