Are planet locations and types staying as-is on currently on Tranq? I mean, is it worthwhile tracking down a few of the rarer planets before the patch?
Have CCP released anything about this?

With most likelyhood all planets remain at their current locations. Re-shuffling over 60,000 planets would not make sense. ________________________

The stats on SISI are not final you know. They'll be completely different on TQ and I doubt a Shattered Planet will even be any better than some randomly generated high-end "Normal planet" :| _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

when sisi tyrannis first rolled out all planet types were the same as TQ
they then updated sisi with the new seeded planet types thanks to the astrophysicist they hired and the new planets have proper sensible stats on the info tab, they also follow more uniform orbits
fe lava planets are now closer to the sun than ice planets
not sure i really like the changes tho as currently my alliances sov has a varied amount of planet types on TQ but on sisi they changed it to 90% gas and barren with 1 or 2 others per system which is pretty boring

Confirming that a highsec plasma planet on TQ didn't turn out to be plasma on Sisi. My pal and me only checked one though. Help us to make parrots game related today! |

Don't think you could shuffle planets without shuffling the moons as well... That would be a tad nuts...

SiSi planets have changed indeed, as for tracking down... you can do that when Mr T hits as well since there's no limit of pilots who can pollute the grounds of a planet at the same time.

SiSi planets will change to be inline with the way moons work - moons aren't the same as on TQ to stop people scouting them with no consequence or cost by loggin onto SiSi instead. Whether or not they'll then reshuffle TQ planets, who knows.

With the exception that SiSi planets match up quite good with TQ ones atm. So anyone could pretty much just check TQ for what they will be since I'm not sure CCP will switch the current TQ info to new ones...

well they changed over 12,000 planet types on Sisi today. there were a couple smaller changes in earlier builds. seems to be a trend

The difference between planets and moons is that planet type determines resources while moon type does not. This means you dont even need to launch probes to find resources, just info the system and check all the planet types. It wouldnt make sense to obscure planet type information or use SiSi to prevent squatting. Currently, planet type is exportable through the API, and I should hope this wouldnt change. ------------------------ Peace through superior firepower: a guiding principle for uncertain times. |

Edited by: Lord FunkyMunky on 10/05/2010 18:50:09 LMAO you can tell the Non SISI people
YES TQ PLANETS WILL CHANGE, It was said a long time ago... why? for balance, originally all the planets were just randomly planted down...
CCP has said they are going through and redoing for both balance and realism, it doesnt make sense that their are temperate planets with 1000000000000 degree temperture... this has to be corrected for both Tyrannis to be balanced and also for Dust 514 to work properly.

actually planet type is exportable but scanning is still required, cause beyond just HS/LS/NS planets of same type in same areas will all vary on their resource availability (atleast quantitiy wise)
