They were on the list of planets but have been removed (donĘt know why but the Devs did mention not all planets would be habitable).
I have one near me and you can see it in space but it vanishes in planet view (all you see are the background stars).

I had a rather strange occurrence happen to me as well. After I downloaded the new Singularity patch, my Oceanic planet I was working on became a Barren planet. Everything was working fine, but the modules I planted were Oceanic modules. Now I can't harvest my Complex Organisms.

I bet they re-seeded all planets and didn't nuke all the structures on the planets. I will have to check myself to be sure. If they did re-seed and "forgot" to nuke then all you have to do is nuke it yourself. Just delete everything and start over. It's SISI after all.
My opinions belong to me, you can't have them!

Shatered planets would probably just be a lava world. if they made them a special type in PI theres frankly not many of them unless they decide to go in and make a bunch more. . . but then again who knows, that may actualy be there intention!

Shattered planets are by definition, "destroyed." They are ex-planets. I think they should be made useless for PI.
I am pleased the designers didn't make PI processes dependent on the rarest planet types. No one alliance is going to be able to lock down the rarest resources.

although i could not sift through all the EVE chronicles, i know that there is one that describes the myth that the Jovians had a weapon capable of destroying planets. i think they may have said that some planets where destroyed "recently" making them believe that it was not a natural occurrence. maybe the shattered planets are literally "shattered" planets due to the Jovian super weapon. that or shattered planets may just be battered planets that where originally war zones and for some reason are not hospitable anymore. either way, I'm sure CCP can create a chronicle or something like that to justify why they are shattered.

The shattered planets have to do with the wormholes that came with the Apocrypha expansion. It's in the chronicles :)
