I'm going to get an Orca as mobile base and as support for mining gank, i won't carry many valuable stuff, besides t2 modules and a Loki, but i'm still worried by sucide gankers. My question are:
- How safe is to fly in Autopilot with a total EHP fit? (in hisec OFC) - Sucide gankers will be able to scan from Corp Hangar, Ship Maint and Ore Bay? - Will they be able to get loot from those bays?

First reaction was "oh good, a trollingpost to troll in ".. But then i cant come up with anything so here goes:
1. Pretty safe unless u fill it with a LOT of expencive stuff. 2. They can scan everything besides the Corporation hangars 3. Yes ______________________________________________ My sig is on strike due to lack of attention! |

Total EHP fit gives you about 250k. It's a good amount, but sure not impossible to crack for a group of people who really want to. I wouldn't feel entirely safe like that. |

You're never entirely safe in this game. Still all that said the Orca is a pretty tough nut to crack. It would take a very serious suicide gank to take one down. Plus they are fully insurable so the only thing you'd be out are your modules and cargo should you get popped.
I run a mission support Orca that sports around 200k EHP (which almost as much as my Domi has with a full on buffer fit and a full set of slaves.) and 199 passive regen. (I use purgers to get the regen for mission agro.)
[Orca, mission support] Damage Control II Shield Power Relay II
Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Republic Fleet 100MN Afterburner
Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I
Large Core Defence Field Purger I Large Core Defence Field Purger I Large Core Defence Field Purger I
Hammerhead II x5 Hobgoblin II x5
The ship is a serious bad ass and is almost wasted as a mining support vessel.
Here's a fit I want to try some day when I'm a bit more cash flush as low sec bait.
[Orca, Killer whale] Damage Control II Reinforced Bulkheads II
Invulnerability Field II Warp Disruptor I Large Shield Extender II Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Medium Energy Neutralizer I Medium Energy Neutralizer I Medium Energy Neutralizer I
Large Core Defence Field Extender I Large Core Defence Field Extender I Large Core Defence Field Extender I
Valkyrie II x5
Can run as long as the boosters last (and Orca can carry a crap ton of boosters ;) )
and can hold out for a a fair amount of time while waiting for back up.

Weeeellą having just tested it:- Very safe unless someone is out to get you or if you put expensive stuff in your cargo hold.
- They can only scan your cargo hold ū nothing else shows up.
- For all intents and purposes, things in any of the special-purpose hangars do not exist to other players. It will not drop, it will not show up on kill mails, and it will be thoroughly disintegrated without a trace on destruction. While corp/fleet mates can access the corp hangar and ship bay, not even they can see what's in there simply by using scanners (be it cargo scanners or ship scanners).
In essence, you are a completely worthless gank target ū killing you only yields the loot that sits in your module slots (and what you have foolishly put into you cargo holdą but there's little to no reason to ever put anything valuable in there), and with a proper fit they have to go through some 250-300k EHP to get to those (very cheap) modules. If they come after you for some other reason than profit ł e.g. war target, interdiction of logistics, KM-w***ing or just causing a personal loss to you ł then things change, but under those circumstances, you're not safe in any kind of ship anyway. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Well, the thing about Orcas is, that while there are fits that can reach freighter EHP levels (250K+)..
MOST Orcas tend to fit Cargo Expanders and call it a day, which reduces their EHP down to the 5-6 BS gank range, less in a 0.5 System. Because Cargo Expanders reduce your structure HP, and Orcas are mostly structure.....well, it turns you into a 50K punchingbag.
But yes, generally they just are not worth ganking, though we've ganked a tankless Orca for laughs, that we caught with Large Cargohold II Rigs - which pushed its value into the 1 Billion range.

Fit a damage control II and call it a day. It increases your effective hit points by about a factor of two. Maybe a reinforced bulkhead if you're willing to deal with the alignment penalties.
Realistically, anything that can kill that is going to kill you no matter what you do. Your best defense is your corporate hangar. Put the valuables in there, and don't let the mean old pirates cut into your isk/hr.

A totally EHP fit Orca in highsec is pretty gank proof. By that, I don't mean that you will never be ganked, but that you will be one of the harder nuts to crack, and there will be many other more appetising targets available. However, there is no fit (other than a Brain II and a full rack of Friends) that will dodge the most determined of ganks.
You can scan and loot from Ship maintenance And Ore bays to the best of my (admittedly I'm not a massive Orca expert), but not the Corp Hangar.

IMO anyone who puts cargo optimization rigs on an Orca deserves to get it popped especially considering that cargo rigs (and hell expanders for that matter) only affect the cargo hold and you're better off carrying anything valuable in the corp hanger which is limited to 40k either way.

Thanks to everyone, then i'll just keep my cargohold empty and avoid cargo rigs/modules. Corp Hangar should be more than enough for me

If you want/need a decent tank with useable mass-cargo support for Corp mining, consider this:
[Highs] 1x Mining Laser Field Enhancement 1x Mining Laser Optimization 1x Small Tractor Beam I
[Medium] 2x Large Shield Extender II 2x Invulnerability Field II
[Low] 1x Damage Control II 1x Cargo Expander II
[Rigs] 3x Cargohold Optimization I
With decent tanking skills results in: 168k+ EHP, 76k+ cargohold
Takes a really ambitioned bunch of battleships to crack this.

Orca-supported mining ops usually have dedicated haulers. Drop the Cargo Expander and put Reinforced Bulkheads II in it's place. You don't need that approximately half-a-can cargo space, 60k+ effective hitpoints on the other hand..
