Hey guys. After some thinking i`ve decided to go try the "evul" side of EvE but i`m in a big dilema. As the majority of people i`ve trained for the caldari missile boat and i was planning to get caldari cruisers to V but i dont know how efficient are on the PvP side. Any recommandations? asd |

Edited by: Francais Tempest on 10/05/2010 21:32:32 It depends on how much you use them. It also depends on what type of combat. In a large fleet, cruisers can be very useful. In my limited experience, a cruiser is about as big as you can get and still escape a gate camp (of course, dependent on skill for both parties). While a cruiser can handle some frigates and destroyers (and other cruisers), it may have trouble against a decent BC or higher.
In the end, it is up to your play style. There are some people who rarely bother with anything other than T2 frigs, others who rarely use anything other than a BS.

Note: I don't fly caldari so take that into consideration.
Caldari Cruisers are used in PVP all the time. Notably the ECM boats in fleets. Cruiser V will give you access to Falcons and Rooks, but besides that will fill the potential of Blackbirds which are used quite frequently.
On the more DPS side of things Caracals are used regularly, and although cruiser 5 doesn't help with Drakes your missile and shield skills should benefit you there as well. The Drake is the most common BC used in PvP so don't worry being Caldari trained ain't so bad. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00

Well its hard to go wrong with a Rifter... or a Rupture... or a Hurricane or a Typhoon. Just that there is a mix of armour tanking for some of these boats also gunnery skills etc. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00

As has already been stated, pvp-wise Caldari ships excel at force multiplication more than major damage dealing, in general. A Falcon or a couple blackbirds are always in short supply and appreciated by every FC. You wont ever get on the hi-damage list but you can end up on everybody's killmails.
For disposable damage dealing, first-response, heavy tackle-type, front-of-the-charge ability, I am fond of minmatar boats; they just get the dps to target fast, period. Long falloff, high speed, and fast aligns get the damage on the target first almost every time.

they can be vicious.. but specialised.
a blackbird is possibly the most annoying thing in a T1 cruiser hull I've ever had to deal with, and the AML Caracal is death to pretty much anything with a cruiser hull.
