Actually I hope the Tories will now tell teh Lib Dems to get stuffed and try and form a minority government. It won't work due to the resultant Lib/Lab pact but then we should get another General Election around Autumn.
Mebbe... hopefully... the Tories will get more of the Lib vote and then we'll have a clear winner
Anyway, on topic... yeah good to see that ****er go.

+1
It's good to see someone else who actually *gets* this whole democracy thingie...
Quote: PS: Looking at PR giving us far right nut job MP's, see who the tories have aligned themselves with in Europe. All of the loonie racist nationalistic parties are now David Camerons' friends. A fine example to us all im sure. PPS: When the leader debates were going on, Cameron refused to answer the accusations of his and his parties 'friendship' with thse nutters. Just goes to show his and hios parties honesty.
I believe the exact allegation was that he had allied himself with a bunch of homophobes, racists and holocaust deniers - a charge he remained rather silent on.

Wrong ^^ The Queen has no power, i think she is just an icon or something these days.
Wrong, on a hung vote it comes down to the queen to decide who forms government.

Minor effects. No one is going to starve or die or lose everything. In the same token we are not going to enter a new golden age. All minor events are played up to be a big deal. All of the whining in the recession was bull****. What hardship did we suffer? A few % on the log books. Those poor f*ckers in the Ukraine and other less well off countries and we are the ones that wail loudest like a little kid with a skinned knee.

Ding dong the **** is gone, now a new age of reducing taxes and benefits, where the business sector who fund this country are treated better than the lazy and stupid.
All I can say is I sure hope the next 6 months are good or we will start seeing anti-conservative drama too, but what are the odds of government doing anything right ;) so just keep hold of those torches. This is so not my main

Edited by: Vogue on 11/05/2010 21:56:47 Politics nowadays is that a prospective leader has to say lots of fluffy stuff to woo voters. Cameron also said lots of fluffy stuff in his first speech as PM. I think he has a cool, calm temperament and understands the need to project strong leadership. But i wonder if he has like the vast majority of politicians and does politics for the utillity of more ..politics.
He said he does not like the 'punch and judy' style of parliment. To me the adversarial parliment is great - you see the raw emotion and conviction of politicians. Would he prefer a trite 'eglatarian' oval chamber. This points to an inclination to be a consensus builder. This aspect could favour him for keeping the libdems on board but alternatively if he lacks poise means he does not make bold stands and push through stuff when its needed.

Originally by: Herzog Wolfhammer so in short form, what exactly does this mean for England?
Nothing.
Nothing, as in, the main parties will be too busy voting against each other "on principle" and "you voted against us on that so we're going to vote against you on this". Nothing will get done, and nothing will change. Welcome to the English Government, the only place where you get paid to conduct pretty, childish infighting.
I had a conversation with a German a while ago, as he complained about how ineffective his government is.
Trust me, in America we WISH our government was unable to decide on anything. Any time our government gets anything done, they are usually doing it to our life, liberty, and property.
In my lifetime I know of only two times where there was relative safety for liberty. That is, no risk of having your livelyhood legistlated away or some activity you do being criminalized at the stroke of a pen. That was the Reagan years, and the Clinton years. No, these were not good presidents. With Reagan, a conservative president and a republican, there was a democrat congress and more liberal. With Clinton, it was reversed. They fought, disagreed, whined, moaned, and made a lot of noise, but little got done.
And that was good. It's only when one "party" - and they are both the same, just coloring things differently to keep people thinking their vote matters - had total control there was trouble.
I expect the people who are conditioned by the lapdog media to come in with their usual crying about how things need to get done. Boo hoo. If there was a separation between school and state as ferociously enforced as that of the separation between church and state, there would not be a whole nation if ignorance thinking government is good. You never hear about how bad Catholicism is in private school, or the problems with Islam in a muslim school. But government and the state is also a religion and it too has its share of fanatics.
"Cap and trade" should be an election method.

It was about time Brown stepped aside, but I must say I've never jumped onboard the Brown-hatred-bandwagon, and grew steadily more annoyed with it. The guy's a decent politician, just a truly **** leader. Ultimately however, he came to power when the country ain't worth **** no more. Blaiming Brown outright for the economic collapse is as absurd as blaming eating chilli for farting: whatever you eat, you're gunna fart, and with the economic model we have, we're gunna have crashes. I imagine had the Tories been in power for the last 3 terms, we'd have been even more ****ed over than we were under labour. Brown got a bad deal with this country, and simply doesn't have the charisma to be PM. Anyway, my main point I guess is not that I support Brown (I don't) but that Cameron can go **** himself with a rake.

I really don't see how people are thinking the Tories getting power again is a good thing, in a few years we will soon see when the NHS waiting lists are out of the door and buildings and infrastructure crumbling again and schools are asking parents to send toilet paper with their children because they cannot afford it because of budget cuts. Lets not forget the experimental economic policies of the 1980s that lead to a cyclical boom and bust economy, the best way to sum this up was the saying "Margret Thatcher said she would get the working man off his back, she succeeded she brought him to his knees instead."
Gorden Brown was never the ideal PM and new Labour never perfect I agree yet they made life easier for families with children to make ends meet and ensured that public services received most of the funding they need.
But here we sit with yet another constitutionally unelected PM from a party that did not receive a confident public mandate being propped up by the party that limped into third place and actually lost seats and thus public confidence in their ability to work for the national interest. With the current political and economic situation I hope the Conservative democrats don't drop us into the **** the way the Tories did before.

Edited by: SmokeyUK on 12/05/2010 11:59:38 I dont see this coalition lasting very long, I give it a year, 2 years max before it all falls apart. Dont forget, the tories had the biggest budget of all 3 parties, ú52bil!! We wont see the investment in the public sector like we did under labour, if anything they will be making huge cuts, to help pay of the national debt, and pay for their budget!
Lib-Tory policies differ too much for it to work out, and have not worked out in the past. I personally dont see this goverment being stable for very long, and another general election will be held within 1-2 years.
A Coalition goverment is the worst result possible, our infrastructure is not built for it, and the last time we had a coaltion goverment in 1974, it last 8 months before there was another election.

Our PMs are always elected by their party. We have no written constitution, our unwritten one accepts this. No UK government has received over 50% in decades due to our lame FPTP voting system. Lib Dems lost seats but gained votes, therefore they gained public confidence.

Yeah I know but you know 3% isnt the majority which is what goes to disabled people.
I get it my comment was harsh but seriously just check the mechanics, exploitation and loopholes around benefits, the ONLY reason labour promotes it is because in the end they get the most benefits.
Conservatives as the name suggests prefers to conserve, both parties are corrupt and messed up but at least conservative has the deceny to admit it is all about the commercial sector.

As someone who is very close to someone on benefits because of Multiple sclerosis I know very well how it is. They are called in regularly for benefit checks and medical exams to make sure that its not all bull****. They're under enough stress as it is as a single parent as well which makes things worse.
But hey, some folks somewhere can't be arsed getting jobs, and some benefits agencies aren't doing their job in chasing up people who are on the Dole yet not active seeking work, so those who genuinely are going to suffer because of this are to be damned regardless, eh?
