Edited by: Wiick3d on 11/05/2010 20:04:11 So, i'm thinking of starting lvl 4 missions. I only have about 3 weeks playing and i just recently bought a Megathron. I want to know if anyone has any tips on how to fit it. I can't use any t2 stuff. I only have 1.6 Mil. . Will i still be able to do lvl 4 missions with that kind of SP? Or should i stick with lvl 3s for now? I'm been doing lvl 3 mission for over a week with a Brutix and can run them without me warping out. Any advice will be appreciated.
I know that dominix is better for pve then the megethron? What about if i just skip both and go to the hyperion? Is that a good idea? I have the isk for it and the skill too.

Edited by: Mendolus on 11/05/2010 20:27:38 Do L3s in a Myrmidon until you can fit a T2 tank and possibly T2 Sentries on a Dominix IMO.
You can try a Megathron but it's going to be severely lacking in DPS and since you can't fit a T2 tank, it'll get chewed up quickly in some but not all L4s.

Sorry to say, but I can tell you right now that you're going to regret attempting a l4 with 1.6 skillpoints. You'll no doubt lose your BS extremely quickly, you won't be able to deal enough dps, nor tank enough to probably escape. It will really hurt to lose an awesome ship so early.
Go back to l3s in the brutix, sounds a little better for you at the moment. You'll get a small glimpse of what to expect in l4s and while you're there, build up your income and really, most importantly, keep training those core skills; ie engineering, mechanics, drones, gunnery, electronics. You want to be able to not only fit that BS well, but also fly it to the best of your ability. Just because you're able to fly the ship doesn't mean you're able to fly it well. The general guideline I use for myself and for other new players that ask is have t2 medium drones, have your capacitor skills finished, engineering skills high enough for proper fitting and tanking skills near-completed for decent t1/t2 modules and enough gunnery to be able to kill the ships (even if you may have to warp out now and then).
Also your last point: Dominix isn't better, it's just a different playstyle. Some people like to train up a ridiculous amount of drone skills and tanking skills then sit in a Dominix and go AFK for 30-40 minutes at a time. Other people enjoy being active in what they're doing and blow crap the pieces. Do what you enjoy! Hyperion can work just as well. The one thing you'll notice about the Hyperion though is that rails aren't good with this ship so you'll be forced to use blasters. If you're not familiar with blasters, you'll have to find a way to get up close to your enemy and melt face before they can kill you, meaning you have to have a really good tank. Outside of blasters optimal which is sadly rather low, you'll notice they won't work as well as intended.

You're probably going to die pretty quickly. If you don't its gonna take you about 4 hours to run a single mission.
You need extensive cap skills for a domi. Epic drones. And epic armor skills. 1.6 mill is not enough to have these along with the necessary battleship skills.

stop scaring newbies o.On even if you are lacking dps l4s pay away more than l3s
tbh i tried l4s at your same sp lvl, ended up loosing my Armageddon , the good thing i learned a lesson , the arma isnt good for l4s and i need t2 light drones, so when i got them after like 10 days of skills i run pretty much most l4s relatively easily with 2 lars ,thx to eve survival =p , and then started to swap tank modules to dps modules after i got skills and confidence and more experience with them just pop the frigate frist and you are pretty much never gonna loose your ship avoid the hard mission like blockade and stop the thief till you get more skills

If you just want to see a L4 you can get a ridiculous tank on a Myrmidon, but with 1.6m SP you might not actually be able to kill anything ( thats assuming you even have drone skills ). Don't even think about L4s until you've got Drones 5 and at least level 3 drone support skills.
I would suggest building up your gunnery support skills and keep doing level 3s, and seeing how being able to do vastly more damage changes how you fly the missions and more importantly how to fit ships.

don't listen to all these chumps...
I was doing lvl4 mission with about 2mil sp with 1/3 in learning. T1 reppers & hardener, 800k or so sp in drones...take a while to finish each mission and I think Vengeance I needed get some corp mate to help me pop the last bs but make so much more isk and it was actually fun (unlike now mission in a golem is just ZZzzzz)
This is good fit for noob and show base level skill you want to start on lvl4s with a domi...http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/19355-Dominix-Newbie-L4-Mission-Runner.html
Mega is all good but you want advanced weapon upgrade before use this ship for pve so you can fit full rack of 425mm rail gun like this (also good noob mission fit) http://forum.battleclinic.com/index.php/topic,18662.0.html
edit: also megathron is no good for lvl3 because the guns are bs size...domi is ok because drones you can just switch to whatever one you need.

Thanks for the links. I have drone to lvl 5 and Combat Drone Operation to lvl 4 Drone interfacing to lvl 4 and the rest are lvl 2-3s on drone. So i should focus on my gunnery skills? I have Gunnery lvl 5 and don't know what else to bring up.

train up scout drone op 5 if you haven't already (for t2 light/med drone)
then focus on gunnery
you will want (just to get started) all your gunnery supports at 3-4
weapon upgrades 5 asap then awu 3-4
large hybrid and gal bs 4 of course

TBH it sounds like you have more SP in drones atm? might be worth using a Domi instead of your Mega at least for a while. Train up Sentry Drone 3 or 4 and overtank the ship itself, it'll be painfully slow but fairly safe.
