Right
After finally getting the standings to anchor a PoS and the money to buy and fit out a large one for a small bit of personal BPO research would the following setup for a minny large tower work well enough noto really stop it being destroyed but to put up a good enough fight so itull discourage it the PoS is in 0.5-6 BTW.
All guns are loaded with faction republic fleet EMP/fusion/plasma ammo and i have 4 L5 gunner alts on different accounts so i can command 20 bats at once also there is enough stront in the bay to fill it.
1 corp hanger
1 exp hard
1 kin hard
10 medium arty
10 small arty
1-2 nutes (not too sure yet)
2 webs
2 150km disruptor's not scramblers
2 of each ECM mods aka white noise and phase inversion.(im thinking about buying faction ones for the 76 jamming strength is that a good idea)
1 mobile and advanced lab (off line and unanchored if i get attacked)
I have 3x redundancy on all mods outside the shield aka 40 medium artys but only 10 ever online at once.
So would this setup work to discourage people from attacking me and if i do get attacked would it put up a decent fight and maybe even survive is there anything ive forgotten and is there anything you would change.

If the POS is in high sec it doesn't really need defences. Someone would have to declare war to bust your POS and once they have declared war, they'll be determined enough to take out your POS no matter what. Note that the war declaration gives a 24 hour warning which you can use to do things like, unanchor your entire POS.
For personal research purposes, a small POS with 3 mobile labs (nothing else) should suffice. Take some precautions like not telling everyone where your POS is (or even that you have a POS) and you'll be fine.
Advantage of this is approach is that it requires less investment - and thus is less risky - and it gets you more research slots.

A large POS with only 2 labs will be very expensive
A small Caldari POS would be a better choice, assuming your BPOs are kept in a corp office at a station

Maybe fly around some moons in high sec and see how they are fitted. You're fitted for combat which is fine but strictly unnecessary in high sec as said. A small one is sufficient for your needs.
If you don't have it already this mod is very useful to design a pos too MyPos link.

Like others have said a large is going to be expensive to work with on your own. If you find it ends up being more expensive than what you can afford you can always use a small tower. Like others have mentioned you would get a 24 hour notice of war and small towers are quick to pull down.

By "this will do the trick" I meant that it's massive, massive overkill. Better just use a small or medium POS, fit as many labs as you can fit, and a bunch of ECMs to make it too much trouble for the average griefer.
