I used to do level 3 missions real well, even after Deadspace came about. Just had to rethink my set up. After the first patch things started getting rough...But no problems Lost a BS in Deadspace...That was more me being*****y then I should have. Tried a Brutix and found out it was good for level three missions. Then they made that patch....Lost the Brutix first mission...FINE...BE THAT WAY Bought a Megathron went back and kicked their butts. Was doing real good after that. Then the agent started to send me to complex missions..first one no problem got through it. The next one I dont know what happened. See my post "What Happened?" So I decided to wait around for GM/derv respoce and seen a level one agent...well why not got into my destroyer went on a dead space mission for her and well what do you know same complex as before...Warped out with 15% hull left. Level 3 or level 1 agent dont make much difference there. Tried a diffrent agent in a BC got a good multi target one. Way to hard now...Mind you I have done this same mission in a Thorax and beat the snot out of them. Now its way to hard no matter what set up I tried. Free-form Professions, ensure no limetations on professions. Be a trader, fighter, industialist, researcher, hunter,pirate[/i] or mixture of them all.

Edited by: Cpt Farnham on 09/12/2004 13:03:20 yep there tough missions and rewards are a little small, but there not completly impossiable. i souct the deadspace missions in a shuttle just to see whats at the entance. Lets me see whats there plus lets me figure out my tank and what is the biggest threat in there, if the mission looks too hard i tell my agent to stuff it. All this is after losing my tanked apoc to Zor and co on a lvl 4 mission was my bad for not scouting the mission sight never did complete the mission just quit. I'm currently flying a maller with the DuraMallerÖ load out even then i still need to warp out from time to time. Kill the Frigs first sure there small hard to hit but there that many of them and if there missile spamming they out damage the cruisers that are at the mission sight. Also i've noticed that if u fire on the sentrys at a deadspace mission all the NPC's there come after you.
The only lvl 3 mission so far i've needed is the pirate extravagnas took me 4 hours to complete i needed help to clear the final area there was just too many for me to take down alone plus i wanted to goto bed. Sure i missed the reward but the 11th teir overseers stuff made up for that. thought once they change over sized ab's i'll have to think of a new load out. -----------------------------------------------
It's not real untill it makes you laugh.

As a loyal agentrunner I'm reading some strange stuff here. like people losing BS's in lvl3-missions. I run them daily in my Megathron, some are more challenging but I never came close to losing one...
Other players have given some good advice here(like luring the npc's by firing off one round). I also find that when you try to kill that last npc(he runs away) the drones take care of that easily. Drones in general help out a lot in DS.
Missions need to be ironed out, that's for sure(already posted about this in another thread). Altho I'm noticing some small improvements in: - loot dropped, more *poofed* ships drop some loot now - mission variety, more none-DS and some(still easy, lousy paid) storyline missions.
I can't say anything about lvl4, except that some of my corpmates can do them solo but find them really challenging. There are some missions that aren't doable solo tho so a friend, allie, corpmate should be available.
On a final note: That what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger.

Agent Mission report from 2 days ago:
I was cruising around doing some transport mission when I got the mission to attack a group of Rebels in system (evati). I remembered how easy it was even with a frig before Exodus came so I engaged in battle with my Destroyer.
When I entered Deadspace I got jammed and killed in 2-3 minutes.
Well i really think that they are pretty hard and really getting unfair.

Guys, honestly - they are not too hard - I'm still running them in a rifter - 7million sp character - totally dedicated to the rifter/claw.
What the issue is the variability. Some take less than 5 minutes they are so easy - others can take well over an hour.
I certainly don't want them nerf'ed. What I want is a leveling process. I want a more standard level of difficulty - it varies too wildly now.
Right now we can have 1 40k cruiser and one frigate to kill. The next we have a fist full of 100k+ cruisers, serveral smaller cruisers, 3 or 4 interceptors webbing/scrambling (the 1,400m/s achieved not by an mwd but oversized ab), dozen of frigs, and I've seen up to 4 turrets.
I get bored silly by the sole cruiser kill, and enjoy the hardness. If CCP can get the levels right I'd be happy.
Some missions now I feel like I'm running feel like Castor lvl2's agent missions which bore me, others I would consider lvl4's.

I just wonder what kinda drones you got for lvl 3 missions?
My guess is that the people say those lvl3's are easy never had any really badazz drones. Pherhaps it's gotta be the efficiency level of the agents that is causing this. Mine has an efficiency of 22 and with skills I've got an effective quality of 42. Pherhaps we can uncover the real reason for these bugs causing these huge imbalances. ___________________________ Favorite bumpersticker of the month: My head hurts! |

I did a mission complex today. Against Angel's lvl3 mission. After 5-6gates i lost count, but i think i was on lvl8 when it ended. yeah well, ended and ended.. I shot the main boss and the spider drones but there was still a warp gate there. It asked for a angel tag i didn't have...

It has been said wisely that missions are not properly scaled in difficulty. They'd better have lvl II as it stands now, lvl III much easier than now (if in deadspace, otherwise not), level IV as today's lvl III, lvl V as easiest lvl IV and lvl VI for those who don't mind loosing their BS

Level 3 rats are not too hard to be killed with a cruiser or a battlecruiser. Before exodus, with the exception of Mordu's, the missions were too easy in a cruiser.
I know that this annoys some people for someone to disagree with them, but I won't let peeps ruin missions that are finally making Level 3 missions enjoyable and challenging for me.
I could see making level 3s easier or closer to pre Exodus, if, and only if, for some reason CCP decided to change Level 4s to a difficulty that could be handled by a lone BS pilot and by a VERY skilled BC pilot, and make Level 5 missions available to those that want team play. But until then, if Level 3s get easier and level 4s remain a team based level (for the most part) then those of us that don't have corp members available to us and still want missions that are challenging will be out of luck.
And for that Level 3 fighting Rifter Pilot, you da man, f'in insane, but still da man.

Nobody would be complaining if the rewards were commensurate with the risk. Frankly right now the rewards are pathetic. I have just completed an Ammatar Invasion mission. Three waves of rats (the last two of which warped in right on top of my caracal), total of 20-25 rats, all MWD'd to the hilt. I used over 200 missiles and had to kite twice because the second and third wave reduced my 400hp extended, EM and TH hardened shields along with an additional 400mm of armour in less than 10 seconds! (I kid you not! And I was boosting with a C5)
For this I received 73K (and that's before I count the cost of the missiles I have used). To add insult to injury, the mission text told me to return 60m3 of Marines. So I spent over 30 mins opening over 20 cans spread over 200km, to find that there were only 30m3 of Marines out of all the cans. By this time I have lost my bonus (which wasn't that great anyway) and returned to find out that the agent actually accepted the 30m3 of Marines. Out of all those 20-25 cans I did not pickup up one decent bit of kit! Not a single one! Also, because the mission was against the Ammatar not a single bounty out of the whole lot!
I reckon I made a total of 50K isk if I am lucky and that's with a level 3 Q19 agent and Negotiation level 4.

Hehe, i made a mistake and lost my beloved brutix on level 3 rogue drone (note to self, make SURE i deselect the sentry drones) And then i lost the 2 recovery frigates i went in with afterwards.... total isk loss including equipment, over 30 mil easy.
But i dont think they are too hard. And i like it that you cant see what your getting yourself into at first, too. I might add that the rewards could do with being beefed up a teency weency bit, and STOP GIVING US GOD DAMN CONTAINERS as rewards, but the missions themselves are great.

My theory is that the deadspace assigning algorithm is bugged and not imbalanced and every time you accept a level 3 mission you end up having level 4 drones to fight at. For level 2 missions you end up having level 3 drones. For level 1 missions level 2 drones. And for a level 4 mission you have way to many level 4 drones.
Explains that a lot of people have a hard time with these drones. They shouldn't be any higher than the classification that all other NPC objects in every other mission of the same level. If you're doing level 2 missions and you never had more than 'moderate' NPC's you shouldn't get 'very high' drones to fight at. And these 'extreme' and 'deadly' drones are ment for level 4 missions. When I encounter them on lower missions to me it's considered being a bug. ___________________________ Favorite bumpersticker of the month: My head hurts! |
