I have a Thanatos in a class 3 wormhole based in a POS fitted with a Siege Warfare link module. I can't get the module to do anything & in case you ask I have activated the module so it is turned on which would be a possible reason for the error if it was not turned on. I have some fundamental questions which I could not find answers to.
a. Do warfare link modules work in wormhole space? b. Do you get any of the benefits which you are testing for if all ships in the fleet are sitting safely inside the POS shields? c. The module I am using should boost shield resists- should the change be visible in the stats of the bonused fleet if working correctly?
This is the problem. Test ships are all in a class 3 wormhole sitting inside POS shields. I turn the module on which is fitted to the Thanatos. Form a fleet with the Thanatos character being given the wing booster & then invite a Chimera to the fleet as a squad member or indeed any other member type. The Chimera pilot gets no bonus whatsoever despite loads of fiddling around & reassigning.
Please can you tell me what I'm doing wrong & more importantly how to do the job properly so I can get the bonus working . Thanks for any help.

Do you have the proper leadership skills to control a wing?

you need to be in a fleet
you need to have at least one other person in fleet
easiest way is for you to be squad commander, and the other person just be in the fleet
you need to be squad booster
you need to activate the module
and you need the other person in the squad to be in space :)

Lets look at this logically (as It may be the POS but im not sure, I'm fairly certain that people boost mining fleets with a rorqual safely tucked away in a POS)
1) Youre all in space (confirmed) 2) You're grouped/fleeted with at least 1 other person, in the same system (confirmed) 3) You have activated the module (confirmed)
The one thing you do say is that you have set yourself as the wing booster. If you only have 1 person in your squad, you should reassign yourself as the squad commander, and not the default fleet commander, as you need an unbroken chain of command to complete the link. So if you were assigned as the fleet commander, you would need a wing commander (with the relevant skills, i.e. wing commander to at least level 1) and a squad commander (with leadership at least level 1) and a squad member (skills irrelevant) to get the squad member a bonus.
If you assign yourself as squad commander (and ignore the wing and fleet parts of the formation) then your skills apply to anyone in your squad (their skills irrelevant) which should get the link working.
You can always check to make sure everythings applying right by making sure everyone in the squad/fleet/whatever has a tick in their fleet window. If not, then theres something missing in the chain somewhere.

IIRC, some ganglinks don't work with cap sized modules, though I'm not certain on that.

Edited by: Taharqua10 on 15/05/2010 17:37:09 Thanks to Karox I got this working by using the simplified command chain. I think the confusion lies in the issue that a chain of command needs to be established with all the required leadership skills being available to cascade down the chain finally reaching the squad member.
