I just patched SiSi to the new build, and all went well.....
until I logged in.
After The Login Authentication, the Acquiring Bulkdata, which normally takes a few short seconds, is now creeping along at a snail's pace......to the tune of about 156/1460 in 60 seconds!
Is there a bottleneck somewhere?
I havent tried TQ yet since it is still DT as I write this. And the rest of my internet seems normal. |

TQ is fine, sisi on the other hand is indeed slow as hell on first login. (Slow as in more than a minute of acquiring bulk data) |

Hey!
Apparently we failed to include the correct bulkdata files into the patch, which results in them being downloaded at the first login to Singularity. This download can take a few minutes.
If you notice any problems with this (beside taking a few minutes), please reply in this thread and also file a bugreport.
edit: This is actually a quite good stress-test of the new bulkdata delivery system, but totally accidental. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance - Team Gridlock Mass-tests | Writing bugreports | Singularity |

heeheehee oops!
Well, it is good news that it is only upon first login.
Now, if I only knew where to find the win Vista crash dump files so as to submit a bug report for the 4 BSOD's I've had the past couple days of being on sisi...

About 5 minutes to download all bulk data, how much "bulk" is 1460 blocks?

Apparently about 15MB - but downloaded directly from the server and not from the CDN... CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance - Team Gridlock Mass-tests | Writing bugreports | Singularity |

OK, Habakuk, question entirely for my own personal interest here...
In knowledge that any and all game logic calculations are made server-side, how much data is transferred - on average - between the EVE servers and an individual client per minute? I mean, obviously this presumably varies significantly depending on what your character's actually doing (I'm going to take a wild guess that sitting in a station meatspinning involves a lot less data transfer than being in the middle of a 1000-man fleet battle), but there must be some averages.
I remember back in 2006, a corpie of mine, Lutin, played EVE on a 56k connection (he lived in quite literally the middle of the ass end of the centre of nowhere). The first bulk data acquisition every day took him about 20 minutes but he was able to Ventrilo and fly in fleets just fine afterwards, so I'm imagining it can't be a particularly large amount of data per minute else he'd have lagged out constantly. No Gods. No Kings. No Senators. No Directors. No Men. Only me.

You can get a ballpark figure by checking the in-game monitor (activated by pressing ctrl-alt-shift-m, or something similar). Of course it depends what you're doing and where but per minute it's measured in kilobytes not megabytes. Sable's Ammo Shop at Alentene V - Moon 4 - Duvolle Laboratories Factory. The cyno-field itself seems a bit different--more "energetic," kinda.

They are usually called MEMORY.DMP and in most cases this file is in C:\Windows, unless you (or whoever installed Windows) put another installation folder upon the Windows installation. In default settings, a new bluescreen will overwrite the existing file, so chances are you will only find the one for the latest bluescreen that happened there.
It may be that the crash dump generation on bluescreens is disabled, in that case you'll find nothing. You can check this (and reenable it) by right clicking your computer in the start menu and selecting "Properties" (or alternatively: Control Panel -> System and Security -> System). Then click "Advanced System Settings" and click the "Settings..." button in the "Startup and Recovery" section. You will find the dump options in the "System Failure" section then. Any option other than "(none)" would need to be set in the list box, naturally. GM Karidor | Senior Game Master |

For Windows 7 (Business edition at least), they are in C:\Windows\Minidump, and are dated and time stamped.
Two bad things in reading it though: You have to install WinDB, and it is a steep learning curve.

For me it gets to 37/204 at most and freezes for good. Had it running all night and no change. Sometimes it just times out and the client restarts. Is there a way to fix this? Does anyone else have this issue?
Any help would be appreciated! |
