The legendary Ronnie James Dio passed away this morning. The man behind the sign of the horns and the voice of heavy metal, died at the age of 67 due to his fight with stomach cancer.

Incredibly sad to hear.
One of the most influential singers and musicians of the last century has left us.
I'll never forget the show in Wacken 09, and at least his music will still be there for a long time.
Rest in peace, Ronnie.

He was a legend. Not much more to say, but If there is an afterlife im fairly sure wherever it is there is a seat reserved for him there.

Dio was a pretty damn cool dude. I loved him in Sabbath just as much as I loved Ozzy in Sabbath, they both brought their own style to Sabbath. And his solo work was great as well. And we can all thank Dio for introducing the devil's horns into modern culture.
Dio was a class act.

Heheh...yeah.
Saw this story in the NY Times yesterday. Granted, I haven't listened to his stuff in ages, but when I did (the '80s), I loved it. Great metal voice. One of the very best.

Sucky news.
I played the first two Dio albums to death when I was teaching myself to play bass back in the '80s.
I saw him with Sabbath at the NEC during the first of Dio's rreunion stints with them. Unbelievable power and prescence; every bit as impressive a vocal performance as I've ever witnessed. It made my year when they finished off the last encore with Neon Nights. Still got the t-shirt somewhere. 
Such a sad loss to all of us.
Rest In Peace Ronnie; you will be sorely missed.

That's sad news, though I 'spose we all have our alloted time.
I'm a huge fan of his time in Rainbow, as well.
His own stage productions were pretty amazing. He had this one crazy concert where these giant robotic metal insects (one was a spider, and the other a 'mantis, I think) dropped down from ceiling and started blasting each other with lasers as pyrotechnic explosions are blowing off plates of metal - even the guitarist had a laser on the end of his axe, and was getting in on the fight. Pretty sure that was his Dream Evil tour. (Opened with Savatage & Megadeth)

Never heard of those people before, but after some research I somehow feel that I did not miss anything.
I have searched for a word that adequately describes my feelings towards those...people in three languages, but have yet to find one.
I mean, they cross a line with this and I am really at a loss for words. Dio does not deserve this.
It's rather those fanatics who deserve punishment for their tactless actions.
