You know what'd be great? A setting to enable red alert when someone locks onto you.
You can choose if it happens when anyone locks onto you, or just player characters.
Then instead of that single "beep" when your threat window (that doesn't fully work btw) pops up, you get a siren horn.
Now obviously you can also set the volume of this, and you can totally turn it off if you wish as well.
But it would be a phemoneal help when traveling on autopilot to have this thing come on. I mean, RP terms, ship captain set their ships on AP on long trips and take a nap in the captain chair. Then when something bad happens, red alert, sirens blaring, boom he's awake and paying attention.
This is all sound wise. A cool graphical effect (again, toggle on/off) would be a nice little red glare around the edge of the screen that flashes while the red alert effect is on. I think we all saw enough Star Trek to get the basic idea here. Would really help the atmosphere imo.
But the sound thing is the most important. It'd be a huge help and give you guys HUGE points in both the customer and reviewer's eye, to add that level of realism and immersion.

Great idea. I like it alot. Both the graphics and the audio should be there, I frequently play with the game muted.

Yes, this is a great idea. The audio as well as the visual alert would be much better(sometimes you do have to turn the volume down!).
Also if I may piggyback here, I'd like something added to the ship status window(shields/structure)that tells you how many ships pc/npc are targeting you at that moment. As it is now when I get targeted sometimes my ship automatically returns lock, sometimes it doesn't. The threat window kinda works but it disappears. I find it more annoying than helpful IMO.

Yes. This is something I would like to see. And sounds that say "Warning Sheilds are low" (@ <50%), "Warning! Shields are down". "Warning! Armor is Low" (@ <50%), "Warning! Armor is gone."

I like it. The "targeted" warning thing, or even a beefed up threat warning.
As for the "shield low/armor low" they sound good. I just got a funny picture in my mnd of those one-shot kills people talk about. And it is a player staring at his floating pod, while listening to those warnings... all coming in due order...

I do agree, but if they start going overboard with all the voice warnings it's gonna drive me batty. Atleast make them enablable.
The 'missle launch' one isn't a bad idea, but when you're fighting a large spawn of 40k-50k pirates and missles are constantly being volleyed at you... ermm... not what I want hollering at me at 2am ;-)

Again, a simple toggle ON/OFF under audio properties would suffice :)
If you're playing at 2am and you're living with someone, you turn them off. If you got a whole day off and you're alone in the house, you turn them on :D ------------------------------------------- If you kill them, they will die!

A vewry good idea there hippey. From a pirates point of view - there are a great many ships that we shoot down who are obviously afk. Maybe also add a function where if your ship is shot out from under you, you have an option to flee straight to a station build in.
