I started a thread in General and was informed I should have started a normal chat here instead.
Besides playing EVE here and there, one of my passions in life is riding motorcycles.
Right now I am the happy owner of a Red and Black 2008 Honda CBR600RR. Absolutely love it. Would love to have a nice slipper clutch on it, and my assets gets toasty on longer summer rides with the undertail exhaust...but those are minor quibbles on an otherwise exceptionally fine tuned machine.
What I would absolutely love to have in my stable in the future would be a Ducati. Any Ducati. I love those machines. An 848 would do nicely...and ideally a Red Monster! Second to that, I love the Aprilia RSV4.
So I thought I'd ask my fellow EVE players, are there any other riders here?
What are you riding and why do you love it?
Ride safe!

I ride a black 1994 Suzuki GSX 1100 F, which apparently was marketed as the "Katana" in the US. It's know colloquially in the UK as the "powerscreen" as one of it's distinguishing features is an electrically operated front screen. Yup; electric windows on a bike... I'm having the ashtrays fitted next week.
I bought it last July as my get back into biking/mid-life crisis bike and I'm pretty sure it was more or less the perfect bike for me.
It's not an out and out sportsbike (sports tourer really), but it makes well over 130hp and has bags of torque, so despite the weight (both the bike and me) it hustles along fairly rapidly and tops out somewhere just short of 150mph for me, although I'm told lighter pilots have managed in excess of 160 on them.
Even though it's quite powerful, it's fairly civilised and doesn't really go nuts unless you stray into the 7500-11000 rev range, so it's actually quite easy to ride around town just sticking to the lower rev range. However, if you do nail it, it will threaten to pull your arms out of the sockets and the scenery starts going backwards at an alarming rate.
The seat is massive (both for rider and pillion) and it's very comfortable. I've done in excess of 400 miles in a day with hardly a twinge.
I'm probabaly going to run this one for a couple of years yet, but when I get rid I'll be looking to upgrade to another big sports tourer... probably a CBR1100 Blackhawk or (preferrably) a ZZR1400 when the price of second hand ones comes down to an affordable level.

I've a dragstar xvs 250 for about 6 years now (had to get a 250 because insurance is a complete rip-off in my country)
its pretty nice and fully dressed, hard bags, triple headlights, sissy-bar and custom exhausts, I havent started it in 3 years though, its just outside my flat chained to the ground and covered up until I need it again (pic of it)
Great bike tbh I've done about 50k kilometres on it already, rock solid with a low centre of gravity, a deer charged me from out of a field while on the dual carriageway and hit me sideways while I was doing about 100kph and on any bike with a higher centre of gravity I would have been killed, but I was able to pull up just in time.

Edited by: dr doooo on 18/05/2010 03:44:30 Yup - it's that time of year again when all the bikers in the northern hemisphere are seeing the tarmac dry out and warm up, and are making plans for their current/new bikes, and road-trips/fun rides. I used to love this time of year when I was motorbike couriering. Those days in spring/early summer when the tarmac dries out to supper grippy, before all the diesel and exhaust fumes settle into it for the summer, and the humidity is just right for the carbs. All the summer riders would be dusting off their superbikes, and then get seriously embarrassed by couriers on a motley assortment mid capacity bikes, who had been 40/50 hours a week in the saddle all winter.
This spring I am looking in my shed and seeing a BMW1000GS that needs some work, or a cb400sfr that I bought as a spare courier bike that came up cheap several years ago, but don't like either that much. I'd swap them both for my motley old CBR6 courier bike - that thing was like an extension of my living flesh.

Honda Shadow 750 American Classic. It was my first bike, and as soon as I can get a real job instead of being freelance in this ****ty economy, I'm sorta leaning towards either a bigger Honda custom or a Triumph, but Triumphs are crazy expensive. Living in Italy is quite nice for bike enthusiasts, as we have some of the most beautiful countryside ANYWHERE and you're pretty much in the minority if you DON'T ride.
Can't stand Harleys...and I'm American! Well, I should clarify...I can't stand how crappy Harleys are for the price one must pay for owning one. It's truly just a name, that brand, and the elitists are usually weekend warriors posing anyway.
