Got some really good items in there. Complete company packs are going for $50 a piece this year, and average savings of $130.

Probably Valve complete pack for certain, any recommendations?

I went for the THQ pack myself. The only item in that list that I already had was Saints Row the Third. Too bad it wouldn't give me an extra copy that I could gift because I went ahead and purchased another copy for my brother. But that will give me all of the DOW 2 stuff, Space Marine which was on sale earlier in the week, and a crap load of FPS's that I had thought about trying but never got around to actually buying.
If this deal lasts for a week I may pick up the Rockstar pack as well because that L.A. Noire looks fascinating. Oh and its got Max Payne 3. |

Pretty common I think, after being a big gamer for years, games just seem mostly meh to me.
Guess one realizes that games are just mindless entertainment for the most part, and after I have played them I am left with nothing. Nothing wrong entertainment, in moderation, but all the time? It is actually boring, and leaves me intellectually starved. And actually helps push the world in the wrong way because you are so caught up in that little gamer bubble of yours that you hardly notice anything else.

When I left the house this morning 9 of 14 games were still battling each other for bandwidth. I think that's the most I have ever tried to download at one time. |

I play a few select games now, but many I buy on cheap on steam get used a little... However, I recently replayed all of Portal 2, it is to this day the only game I have had the want to replay as a single player campaign. This realisation brought me back into Eve, though I seem to spend a lot of time on Rosetta Stone now
Also Spacemarine is pretty awesome as a game, loved it as a stress reliever, though I do recommend playing it on a gamepad.

I'd have to agree. I looked at their list as of now, looked at preview videos of a couple, and saw nothing of interest that I did not have already. Civ 4 maybe, but I'd have to see the last couple months' releases in Steam as well.
As for intellectually starved, I'm now pretty set on throwing my lot behind Icinga and Nagios plugin programming (in particular, the need for better process monitoring). The nice upside is that I'm enjoying what I do at work again, which appears to be rare nowadays.
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

wow, most single games are 60$. but you can buy every single game ever made for just 300$.
like 50 bucks per company. my god. That's like buying 6 new games. I've done that, you mean I could of had 300 AAA games if i sold 6 of the games sitting on my desk for xbox/ps3/pc? Yeah I'm selling, I need the money to buy more games than I'll ever have time to play. for the price I would of paid for games in the next 6/9 months or so. I rarely buy games nowadays, but Crusader Kings 2 and all the DLC at a 75% discount got my cash on the first day of the sales. It's still on offer at 40% discount.

Got a chance to go through a couple of the games in the THQ pack over the weekend.
Space Marine has been fairly decent, certainly better than what the trial provided me with. Without a doubt you do need a xbox style controller to play it which I've noticed that more and more pc games appear to be leaning to, a idea that makes me rather sad as I prefer M&K. Sure I can play that way but it would actually end up being rather awkward due to how your guy moves and functions.
And then I tried a little Company of Hero's last night and I never realized that it was a rts instead of a fps. Kind of caught me off guard when it suddenly put me in a overhead view and told me to get 25 troops to the shingles. I've been enjoying a lot of the game play functions of this but there is a lot I need to learn on it (simple things like laying mines).
Metro 2055 has been my favorite so far. It kind of has a fallout sense to it with the huge exception that you are guided by a straight line. The scenery has been great and it has actually made me jump a few times with it creepiness factor. I need to really work on my ability to stealth though, which so far involves killing everything in ones path with the loudest weapon possible. This put me in an unfortunate position because I was on the Russians front lines against the four starred named people and I ended up getting killed. What is unfortunate about it is that the last checkpoint puts me in the same spot where I died and I get hosed almost immediately. If the guys above don't get a lucky shot right off then they generally toss a grenade on down (throwbacks weren't invented yet). If I don't want to get blown up I need to run to the other side of a pillar where a firing squad is. On the off chance that I manage to actually take all that out there is one that kills me as soon as I enter a hallway and I have yet to figure out where he is coming from. Needless to say after about the 30th attempt I logged off for a bit in extreme frustration. |

Haven't been spending too much. Been a steam user since the beginning, and participated in all steam summer/winter sales. :s Been getting some indie games here and there, cheaper DLCs for the main game. So not heavy on the wallet. :) Only big "bucks" I spend on so far, is Street Fighter 4 AE that was on sale.
Typical of EA, not a single EA game over 50% off. |
