I'm warping around from system to system, but in my HUD there is always some player that remains the same distance away from me.
Right now I have this "Red Katherine" at 14km no matter what I do or where I go.

This person is using a tractor beam on you. No matter where you go, they will always follow you until either you or they log off, or they turn off the tractor beam.

It's a known bug, I've had it a few times. Maybe clearing the cache (escape menu) might fix it if it happens a lot.
In my case the problem was my magnetic personality.

Welcome to EVE Online Alpha Preview 1. There are still some quirks we have to polish up a little, but sit tight, in 2029, everything is going to be aaaallright.

Minimize your HUDs overview and see if that clears it. If it does not clear by doing that, then you will have to clear your cash or log off. BTW it is a known bug.

What they were trying to say was that you should simply switch to another overview tab and back for refresh and you're good to go. But you know, this is EVE, best of the smartest breed all around...

Left click empty space, then double tab the tab key.
Sorry if anyone cleared this up already.
