It is about time we got a proper Exploration / Salvage ship instead of having to use covert ops to explore and in most cases destroyers to salvage. As CCP class both of these things as occupations it would seem only fair as miners, haulers and combat pilots all get there own ships.
My suggestion is to have one ship based on each races destroyer (seeing as lots of people use them as salvagers anyway) to cover both jobs. The ship its self would be non combat (no turrets, launchers or drones) but strong enough to survive an attack by rats with slot setup and resistances based on each races Indictor.
Bonuses would be something like this:
Role bonuses:
+ 2 warp strength and -97.5% to 100% reduced CPU need for cloaking devices (ship can use covert ops cloak)
Destroyer Skill Bonus:
5% to all armour or Shield Resistances per lvl 5% reduction in cycle time for data and composition scanners per lvl
Explorer / Salvager Bonus:
15% increase to scan strength per lvl - 12% to survey probe flight time per lvl 20 % bonus to range and velocity of tractor beams per lvl 5% to cargo capacity per lvl (base cargo hold 550m3)
Skills would be similar to and indictor with evasive manoeuvring replace by covert ops.
Ok thatĘs the idea now to throw it to the wolfs and see if it gets ripped to pieces

please see this thread and the 2 threads linked in it.
CCP already gave you the tools for very powerful exploration (support) ships in the form of the T3 cruiser which come with probing/tractor range bonuses. can easily be equipped to run also hard plexes. they can warp cloaked, can dodge bubbles. you just have to use the tools which are already there.

that's one more ship bonus than other T2 ships.
cant see this one happening as CCP already stated salvaging is a mini profession.

why do you tie salvaging with exploration, but yet do not address archaeology/hacking?

ok yes T3 is great and it can be used for scanning and salvaging but then it takes a lot longer to train to fly and the hacking /arc bonuses are the reduced cycle time - would give a cycle time of about 7.7 seconds add the right hardwire you would get closerer to 7.3 seconds but it could always be changed to 5% increased chance of retrieval per lvl
as I said it an idea which if it did happen would allow players faster access to features normally found on T3 and Bigger T2 ships and if you work out how fast you could fly one compared to the T3 suggestion there is no comparision
