We poke a massive amount of fun at our miners/agent runners etc.. and they poke fun back at the more combat oriented players but of course we have people doing both and of course they all get along. I fail to understand why they would not get along, it's all necessary even if some corps do more fighting then mining or visa versa.

I've mined a few times with my corp, but it's kinda weird because you can't really see if you're mining or not. Some ppl complain because they have to drag and drop ore from their cargohold but I don't need to. Eve must do it for me because it thinks I'm cool...or at least I think it does...the jet can at least fills up slowly so it must be. I love the booms when the torps hit the ark roids tho, it keeps me entertained for so long
Hell, since my pvp and mining fits are identical (weird, huh?) then I could just as well take my scorp and go mine some ark today if there are enough torps in my corp hangar to mine for at least an hour or two. I prefer torps while mining because my friend told me they have a better "yield": that is, each torp mines more ore than each cruise missile. --------------------------------------

Yup!
We kill roids, ocasionally an enemy ship gets in the way and we are forced to mine off its outer hull, that in turn causes it to explode...

Edited by: Lucian Alucard on 07/12/2004 20:40:51 Edited by: Lucian Alucard on 07/12/2004 20:38:59 Its hard to do in the north as opposed to do in the south. The southern alliances have a more organised recruiting policy where they get carebears willing to fight. Getting care bears to fight is a pain in the ass when they are scared and unwilling. Most pvpers would be fine if the carebears helped out in frigs, but the major problem is implants pvpers don't use them as a rule of thumb those that do are really good at what they do or they are just stupid. Carebears use implants alot but if you have them fight in a frig there is a greater chance of loosing said implants, the core problem is fear and implant costs. I recommend that no one in a 0.0 alliance use implants if you need to do hard core training in empire for a month or two and get back up implants then go out and fight so if you lose your implants you have back ups, its hard and time consuming but its what you have to do if you want to be a true contributer to the success of your corp, people in corps and alliances need to fight almost as much as they mine and the smaller the corp the more the demand of pvp participation. Its a sad fact that you really need to be well rounded to get ahead. To do it quick train Amar or caldari. An osprey is an amazing strip miner and is WAY cheaper then a bs and a bestower if you train the skill up can be one of the best haulers around, not to mention if you us a maller or geddon for mining cuz you will get a big pull and have the ability to pvp/chain when needed. By training Caldari crusier you can fly bbs, griffins, carcals and kestrals, allowing you to be able to mine and pvp. Pvpers usually won't whine if their is equal participation and a ship replacement policy put up. Otherwise your going to have alot of problems. If they still have a problem then they need to leave and join a more pvp oriented corp or start up their own pvp squad, either way they need to do something to satisfy their bloodlust beyond that of what the corp normally offers.
Please stop being a third rate flamer,I am tired of reactivating my account just to kick your ass. |

If you don't have people in the corp that do both mining and fighting, it can still work. However there is a situation that throws it all out the window.
It's called "getting pwnd"
In this case, the fighters get cranky because they need more help fighting and the miners won't fight. The miners get cranky because they are having to build more ships for the fighters. Everybody gets cranky and people start leaving and fighting each other.
Simple rule, have everyone do most of the stuff together, whether they're the best of miners or best of fighters. Working as a team, rather than a sum of parts, helps overcome a lot of problems with the dilema.

Originally by: Fay Fay Seems like most corps I join, the pvp'rs hate to be around mining (but complain about lack of ships and supplies), and the miners hate to fight (but complain about getting ganked everyday). Is anyone in a corp where the miners are safe, and the pvp'rs arent bored and *****y? where people make money?
Absolutely StrongHold is set up on just this principle. Our Industrial division mines and produces ships, equipment and ammo for our PvP wing. and makes $$ for the corp coffers. The added plus is that all of our industrial pilots are experienced PvP'ers and are allowed to go on fleet ops whenever they feel bored.
This has worked for us to perfection. Im sure other corps follow the same principles also.
Remember without security miners are dead meat so make sure you "Always" provide cover for your industrial arm .. A corp that Wont escort their hauler's or guard their miners is a dead/broke corp.
Now get to that belt and mine your Veldspar "Slipp66"
They have us Surrounded again.. the Poor Bastards |

Quite a few ratters get bored while protecting the mining fleet. Thus, many are disinclined to sit around popping the slow bs spawn in one area even for good pay. Sometimes it is helpful to pay a couple ratters to take turns so they don't get too bored while the others are roaming in nearby belts.
Often it is easier to organize a large op for an alliance than it is for a single corp to start a small op.
Honestly, I usually feel there are few things more handsome than +100 beams of light streaking out at a strip of roids. Ending the op and calling in extra shippers to haul it off is the only thing that ever feels like work.
