Hi,
I would like to buy a PC exclusively to play EVE.
I want it to handle single client at maximum details at 1920x1200 resolution, but I don't want to overpay. It should be something to handle everything smoothly, but nothing more (so I'm not even gonna consider things like i7 980x EE 3,33 GHz etc.)
Would you be so kind and recommend me an optimal hardware?

Without resorting to dredging through newegg(I'll let you do that.=D) I would say that any brand of dual core cpu will do just fine along with xp or win7 and 2~4 gigs of ram with at least an 8800 nvidia gpu or whatever equivalent would be for an ati card. That setup will most likey cost well under $500 and run eve flawlessly even in large fleet fights, lag willing. So basically set yourself a budget and get the fastest cpu and vid card you can along with the rest of the computer.

Thank you for the reply.
So if I understand correctly, even maximum details are not very hardware demanding. Does it also mean, that it doesn't really matter if I go for Intel/AMD or ATI/NVIDIA setup?

Not at all. All the major brands are just fine for performance as far as eve is concerned so just buy what you can afford.

If you posted an approximate budget you can work with, I'd be happy to post an example setup for you to base your purchases on.

Graphics and cpu requirements are not high compared to modern games. But eve is heavy on ram, you'll need at least 4 gb, 2 isn't enough. They're cheap anyway.
Don't run it at 1920x1200. The interface will be tiny and unreadable at that point.

I run it on 1920x1200 and can still read it without any problems at all. More likely it is the size of the monitor you are using 1920x1200 on. Mine is a 24" widescreen but I don't use the widescreen format because of the black bands I would get top and bottom of the screen.

42" widescreen and no issues with running at 1920. Also 2 gigs is plenty as one client rarely uses over 500mb of ram. I'd say 2 gigs is enough to run at least 3 clients with low settings.

Not true at all. Can never have enough room to fit info. Played it on a 52" at 1920x1080 and never going back. The UI scales itself anyway. ôRemember this. Trust your eyes, you will kill each other. Trust your veins, you can all go home in peace.ö

You cant run max settings with 8800 in large fleet fight, you get max 5-15fps :P I had dualcore@3,2ghz and 8800gts, now I upgraded to 5850 and it performs much better.. but still with bloom+hd+effects on in 200+ people on grid fps drops to 25.

Unless you plan on being in massive fleet fights a dual core with a reasonably modern gpu should suffice easily. But zoomed in in a fleet battle with everything maxed with effects on brings my gpu to its knees and mines a quad-core, 5750, 4 gigs ddr3.

I just got a q9400 quad core with an ati 4890 and it runs everything on maximum with no issues.

As far as normal day-to-day flying goes, EVE is not that demanding and can be played on any semi-modern setup (my old laptop bought some 4 years ago runs it just fine). But when it comes to large fleet fights, there exists no rig today which could run it at full details.
