I think CCP is just looking for ways to remove money from Eve to keep inflation in check.
But it's really not that big of a price when you consider it's an elite ship that can only be flown by someone with 5 mill+ skill points. And in most cases the people flying them will have been around for a very long time, having lots of time to a mass wealth.
But ya, I'm a few weeks away from getting one and I'm looking at that price tag hopeing it will come down, because lets be honest, I'm a cheap bastard.

Edited by: GrendelPrime on 10/12/2004 14:48:35 Well... would it help if i told you that the skill cost 32Mil when it first came out?
I can tell you, that while 29Mil is a large price to pay for a skill, once you get into your first Heavy Assault Cruiser you'll forget all about the price paid. The ships are simply amazing... I fly 2 seperate Hvy assault ships now, I've got a Deimos that gets a x8.499 damage mod using Med. Ion blasters with NO damage mod fitted, and an Eagle that can hit at ranges upwards of +147km. So in my opinion they are worth the price I paid for the skill.
So keep training, and plunk down the ISK and you'll never regret it
Sorry, my bad... after looking at my Deimos again it does have 1 T2 damage mod kitted "Though you may die, do not give up your honor" -- Miyamoto Musashi

yeah, I'm starting to train for an eagle, maybe in 2 months I will have saved up enough to get the skill... then of course the cost of the ship... But yeah, the eagle's shield tanking and range seems well worth it. Oh well, back to mining for a while...

Your 250mm 'Scout' Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Serpentis Soldier, wrecking for 319.4 damage. |

My first guess was that the prohibitive cost of the skill is in preperation for the prohibitive cost of the ship. Haven't flown one - but guess that insurance doesn't cover it in the same way for the other tech2 ships.
A money sink does sound about right though...

Munin ahhh, its a great ship, always loved the rupture, but to get able to fly a better version of that ship rocks So Say I. Einheriar Ulrich of the Bloodline of Einheriar.

Can I just confirm - heavy assault ships aren't insurable?

They are insurable but because of the T2 market being inflated by the BPO owners, you are not going to get 100% of the price you paid back only 10% mabye

All tech 2 ships are insurable, but the payout only covers the mineral cost - not the cost of the components. So you only get back a fraction of the cost of a new ship.

I believe you are slightly mistaken (unless it's bugged yet AGAIN) - the insurance payout doescover the T2 components - in mineral form. Constant cutting back of component drops by CCP has made them harder to come by, thus inflating sale prices, but the basic parts are still covered.

They will drop again, when the manufacturing of these components from moon-minerals gets going. In a few months, when a lot of pos are established, and builders specialize in tl2-components...

HA lvl 3 tomorrow and on to lvl 4...then beginning to train Caldari Cruiser to lvl 5 on 22 of December...so that it will be just in time for my arrival home from Egypt. Yummy...!!!
The skill is for a T2 Cruiser and therefore has heightened requirements and therefore accordingly will cost a bit more. Furthermore on a personal note, only those with the experience and isk should have the honor of flying it. Nothing in this game should ever be too easy. Therefore those that have recently or just begun to play this game should not aspire to hollow out all the effort and time that veteran players have put in to playing this game. Regardless if it is a measurement of skillpoint or the size of their purse. You are too f-ing greedy for your own good. What fun is there in playing a game and having it all handed to you on a silverplatter?

to bad the payout for the effort involved to successfully run a POS around the clock simply isn't worth the small group of people needed to run and sustain a structure.
until they fix the output of what they are capable, the mission runners are still going to be the higher output for parts being the reward for effort on a POS isn't there.
so they tried to slow down missioners with dead space.......that's cool. only gonna slow down component release even more trying to force people into POS, which they won't do cuz the rewards blatently suck for how much group work goes into them.
ultimately dead space for lvl 3 missions and below is ludecris.
the slower release of parts and money generated from missions will ultimately slow game progress and inflate prices even more.
Looks like if this all keeps up Exodus just might live up to it's namesake
