Edited by: THE LAUGHlNGMAN on 23/05/2010 23:33:11 So I heard you can make money from research. I have no idea what that means, can anyone explain? Also what are some other good ways of making money? I haven't played in a couple of months but I got a Caldari Raven and can do level 4 Caldari Navy missions.
Now, the main reason I quit playing for a couple of months was because the PVE is so BORINGGGG and LONGGGG. Like it got so repetitive. Any ideas to spice up the fun in money making? Also any other ways to make money faster as well?
The main reason I'm thinking money is a big aspect now is because it's the only thing you can really increase from playing the game. And the only fun I can think of having in the game is PVP but I don't any money for that stuff yet.
Please answer these questions for a newbie. Sincerely, a newbie having doubt in playing EVE.

Also, it sucks sitting for 30-50 minutes watching you ship go pew pew in a level 4 Caldari Navy mission.

First things first, you should probably take a look at the many ways to make ISK in EVE.
Immediately after, start thinking about what you really want to do. You don't need a lot of money to PvP, but it would be highly advisable to have a lot of friends.
If you're just sitting there grinding ISK solo and hoping you could afford to keep engaging in PvP "some time later", slap yourself hard now, because I can't do that over the internet. Also, those friends you'd better have, they will advise you on easier/faster way to make ISK with them, as opposed to grinding ISK solo. In fact, there are more than enough corporations that will just give you ships to PvP in as long as you show up to the planned events and do your part, so you don't even need that much ISK of yours to PvP.
As for your other question, you can make money from "research" in three different ways you MIGHT call "research", but each of them is different. One is datacore harvesting (this is what most people actually refer to when they talk "passive research income"), the second is actually researching blueprints (and either selling copies or the researched originals for a markup) and last but not least, doing invention (it's a bit more complicated, needs most skills and starting capital of all three options).

Just to emphasise the point that Akita T touched on - EVE will become much more fun if you make friends. Chat to people in your NPC corp, chat to people in Local, look for information about group activities in Events & Gatherings, Intergalactic Summit or Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center.
Once you have a group of like-minded friends to have fun with, making ISK becomes a non-issue.
