Edited by: GreaseMonkeyAlt on 25/05/2010 16:20:13 I'm making a guide to ganking/Theft in eve.
I will admit I haven't worked on it for long at all, but I enjoyed doing what I have done so far (I plan to add some more, make it more readable, add more pictures, etc)
Please take a look, and tell me what you think (and how I could improve it, or if I made any stupid mistakes)
The Art of Gank
Thanks!

Not bad, but I have a couple of things to mention:
1. Fitting a buffer tank to suicide ships is absolutely pointless. Concord will jam you and zap your cap so lasting longer doesn't really matter.
2. Generally you should use meta 2-3 guns as they are more effective than meta 0 and are usually cheaper as well. Also, imo you should either use T1 or T2 damage mods. Use T2 if you need more damage and don't care about the 2 extra mil it will cost you. (Primarily freighter/low-skill solo hulk ganks) Or just use tech 1 damage mods for cheapness.

1) While this is true, you're still being shot at by sentry guns/custom official ships before that... and you might be slightly unlucky and get a neutral shooting you too- better to be safe than sorry.
2) I think I did say to use named guns/damage mods - "Fit Cheap named guns, and named damage mods", But I will change it to point out what meta level to use, plus your suggestion on using T2 Damage Mods. Thanks!

You'd be surprised how cheap some meta mods can be, I've found like meta 3 and 2 that are cheaper than meta 0

tl:dr, but as far as fitting a buffer tank, utterly useless. If your concern are the rats on the gate/players looking for the easy flashy red kill, use warp core stabs. Has the added benefit of using they carebears own f*ggy tool against them.

why would you fit warp core stabs. if you are suiciding your losing the ship. a stab will serve NO purpose ----------------------------------------------- Cause they know your a pirate when they hear you say....... YARRR

You fit warp core stabs(1-3) in order to make it off the gate in the event that the faction navy or concord(or even some bored inty pilot since you may or may not be flashy red) decides to tackle you.
Thank idiots for sticking their feet in their mouths and reminding me how much smarter I am than the average eve player.

pretty decent .pdf
Although if I were in a wormhole corp/alliance that got ganked of multiple capitals, a small pos with stront wouldn't save you.
The tower would get a **** cage, and each exit wormhole would have as many large bubbles as possible.
Best to get as many caps out while you can, rather than risk the rage and lose them all.

...You DO know that surviving CONCORDDOKKEN is considered an exploit? right? because I'd hate to think you just made a huge idiot of yourself right there...

Where does he say anything about surviving? WCS help you not get tackled on the gate, so you can get to your target and kill it. "I'd hate to think you just made a huge idiot of yourself right there..."
One thing to add about WCS and suicide ganking--you need a sensor booster to compensate for the slower lock time. |

At this point I would like to add that the preferred method of suicide ganking is to do it on a character that can actually enter the space without getting attacked by the faction police first. ie, with a sec status higher than -2.0..
If you were to do this on a character with a terrible enough sec status that faction police were big enough issue that you had to fit a stab (they web first, so getting pointed by them is ultra rare) then your concord timers are useless as the faction police will simply follow you to the belt anyway. (they will in fact use the same timer, but the timer starts when you land, not when you have finished locking and have gotten in to range)
Feel free however to gimp your DPS by fitting stabs instead of damage mods, it just makes it funnier for the rest of us.
