Yes it works fine... yes I can play the game.
But since Apocyrapha I've not been able to multitask (cmd-tab and use other programs whereas any other intensive games such as Portal *steam ftw!*).
CPU Core temps are still insanely too high... it smells like a memory leak or total unecessary task load on the system.
What the blithering hell is causing this? Why so much work for something that isn't really that different from Apoc?
In all honesty it feels like the quality of the Mac Client as far as "back end" performance is back sliding in-spite of the eye-candy.
I have a Macbook Pro 15" with Nvidia GPU's 512MB RAM and 4GB RAM running OS-X 10.6 with current patches/fixes.
With all due respect to CCP and there diligent efforts.... there's something VERY wrong with this picture.
Am I really the only one who see's this?
In all honesty I hate seeing my Macbook hover around 75C and worse yet being unable to jump to EVEHQ and my Mail client and anything else is a real pain in the ass.
Don't get me wrong... I love the mac client and I love the game... but in all honesty I feel like they are looking at the WRONG issues. ========================= CEO of Shadow Cadre http://www.shadowcadre.com ========================= |

I have a dream....
that the EVE client engine is being rewritten with OpenGL in lieu of DirectX and then there is suddenly no more need to wrap the eve client in transgaming's cider package to sludge it all up ...
But seeing as CCP is using almost exclusivly all MS technology, I doubt it will happen.

This.
I can't stand the mac client. It runs at 1/8 the framerate of the windows client on the same machine.
Oh, and I almost forgot. I just made you read my signature. |

EVE like many games today run using the cider wrapper, which has brought a lot of programs to the mac and we should be thankful as for the most part they are pretty playable.
Unfortunately since it is a wrapper and doesn't support multi-core, I believe, it's highly cpu intensive. one can blame CCP but they are just working with what they have and maybe its Apple should up their game but moving to openGL 3.+ etc and take gaming seriously so developers will to
