Looking for some suggestions for a PVE Railgun for a Gallente Myrmidon. Any ideas? Should I go Tech 2 for LVL3 missions?

for the myrmi use projectiles... (myrmi has no gun bonus) otherwise its a 200mm or 250mm railgun you need, whatever you can fit

Should I try to get some tech2 railguns or is that overkill for LVL3's? Trying to work up to LVL4's even though they have been nerfed a bit.

Getting tech 2 railguns for a cruiser is a prereq for getting tech 2 railguns for a battleship.
Its not a bad idea to do so.

Edited by: Whitehound on 29/05/2010 10:48:22 T2 is not a bad choice, but not a requirement to run level III missions with a Myrmidon. 5x 250mm Railgun II is what I use on mine.
It is more important to get your battlecruiser skill high up and to use T2 drones. The increased armour repair amount for your ship is very helpful, and the drones are your primary work horses for running these missions. --

Can I suggest the 200mm or 250mm Prototype 1 Gauss Gun...Used two of these on my last Vexor fit to the chagrin of my foes :) Optimal range was around 20km, worked fine as close as 12km, after which I used drones to great affect. With the myrm, u should be able to fit about 4 of these with absolutely no problem. Myrms are great. Good choice!

myrmidon doesn't have a bonus to guns , just use some capless guns(aka projectiles). Also make sure you get a passive shield tank.
At the moment most hybrids are not real successful weapons due to their limitations.

Just get a Dominix and use 3 drone nav computers for speedy heavy drones and easily fit 6*250mm rails, requires basically the same skills as the Myrm.

A passive shield tank on a ship with a bonus to armour repair amount? Seriously?? If one is in such a need for a tank on a Myrmidon then one can fit two armour repairers. For PVE is this however over-powered and ill-advised.
I also doubt the OP will have the skills to use projectile weapons more effectively than hybrids. You are only sending him off into a lol-fit. --

Myrm passive tanked is much better than the armor tanked one, can even be compared to a drake tank

Do you have a fitting? I bet a dual repairer is better.
A Drake gets a bonus to its shield resistances. You can compare a Drake's shield tank to a shield tank on a Myrmidon, but ... --

I guess it's because of the Myrm's many Low Slots and it's fast Shield Recharge. To be honest I doubt it'll beat a Drake but it's definitely better than Dual Rep.

I sure hope you mean Shield Power Relay and not Reactor Control.

Edited by: Arctur Vallfar on 30/05/2010 23:06:37 I just active armor my Myrmidon no problem for missioning. If you've sunk enough skill points in to armor related skills, it makes sense to take advantage of them while you train other stuff.
Depending on how you fit your ship, projectile turrets are a good way to go if you need to free up capacitor power. I however use 150mm dual roflrailguns, but my drones do 90% of the work. If you intend to grab a Dominix when you can, you might as well just hold on to the hybrid turret skills you have and bolster your way to T2 drones.
If you really intend to sit on Gallente Battlecruisers for a long time, then you might as well train up projectiles or whatever turret class fancies you. Shield tanking the Myrmidon is still a great way to go if you want to head in that direction too.
