'There seem to be a few issues caused by certain ATI cards (X1200 series and HD 4800 series) that are not handling rendering the new shaders for planets very well. Workaround: Update Drivers and lower shader level.'
I have updated the drives but i see no option to lower the shader level either in the client nor on the ATI Catylist Controll Center thingey. - can anyone point me in the right direction?
... other people have mentioned that this proiblem has gotten worse since the patch and is now effecting nvidia cards aswell.
Ps - im accepting donations to a 'new pc' fund. :P

The Radeon 9000 series is an extremely outdated graphic chip and along with the X100 and X1000 series has fallen off most commpany's radar for updating esp. since they are now legacy cards as ATI is concerned.
Since the 9000 is even mroe outdated than the recent batch of outmodes you should be surprised you can do anything with it still.
In the graphics menu for EVE there is an option called Shader Quality. Reduce that to improve performance and compatibility. If it is already at low there is nothing that can be done. Get a new system to resolve this. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

bah, i was hoping there would be an answer which dosent involve me ploughing more money into this.
thing is, the textures seem to load as i am passing the planets in warp - but go blank as soon as i pop onto the grid - i wwonder if its an LOD thing.

so... i have discovered that when i come out of warp and the planets load there is a clinet hang of about 10 seconds while the working planetry textrue is replaced by the grey orb.
so its no longer an asthetic issue, its LIFE OR (internet spaceship)DEATH in PVP
anyone have any ideas?

Happens with almost all old cards, not just ATI's.
Try lowering the shader to low.
I have four systems. One has a NVIDIA Geforce 5700 (cost me an arm and a leg :@). One has an ATI 9800. One has a ATI 4870, and the last has an ATI 5870.
The first two cards have the issue you have. The last two do not. I don't think it's an issue with the X1*00 or 4*00 series ;). More of an issue that those two cards probably use an out-dated Shader Model technique. ---

i cant find the options to do that in the chards settings or on the eve-o settings. Need help with that.
re- new card - this box dosent have pci-e, so this card is about the most advanced thing it can run. I am looking at buying a new computer, but then again, im lookinging at buying a limousiene and a helecopter. :P
