Has anyone ever tried out heavy drones, like berserkers, against interceptors? I'm just curious to whether or not they can keep up with them when they are orbiting and scrambling you. I'm wondering if I should go with medium drones or heavy for frig defense?
Anyone tried it out?

They may get the odd hit in, but generally the same rules that apply to larger turrets vs smaller targets apply to larger drones as well. You'd probably have a lot better success with a bunch of medium drones. I use Vespas because the trade off of damage vs speed, size, cost and tracking compared to the hammerhead makes a fair difference IMO. Best thing though is experience, so if you can fit them, try a handful of heavies and a handful of medium scouts and see which works best. If it's a player inty, you can forgo deciding which drone is more suitable with the cunning use of a webbifier and/or nosferatu

Player ships no, npcs yes. They hit orbiting npc elite frig, but also miss alot. My guess is that heavy drones and medium drones are about the same dot wise against npcs. If you can use 10 drones then maybe mediums are better (on a bs w/ 1500m3 drone bay).

I use 10 meds insted of 6 ogres on my apoc. the ogres simply dont hit ceptor npcs and have big trouble hitting frigs at all. Even the medium ones have problems hitting frigs so I have to web the target in order to make them hitt good. _____________________________________________

I belive that all drones use the same gun signature resolution, so its all up to the tracking.
Acolyte: 2.43 rad/s tracking speed / accuracy Infiltrator: 0.81 rad/s Ogre I: 0.20 rad/s
Now, if the ehavier drones do ahve a signature radius penalty... it gets even worse.

I find exactly the opposite. My dominix was tackled by a vigil a while back, and I took him down using heavy drones in a matter of seconds (as in, less than 5).
I also kill the NPC interceptors very easily using only heavies.
I was using a mix of wasps and ogres at the time, with a 2:1 ratio, respectively.
Right now I am finding in my Ishkur that light drones are doing next to no damage to small ships, leaving me to consider using mediums in my new ship instead of the lights it is obviously supposed to be carrying.

I always thought of using maybe 13 (or whatever max I can use) light drones for player inties. I know they do little damage but, interceptors are weak anyway, and lights should be able to keep up easily. Is this thinking flawed then? ------------

Lights go something like 4k/s. So even if you can't web an interceptor, they can keep up with them.
If you can web the intie, using mediums will give you more damage over time.
Mediums tend to work best against frigates in general. Its only when you get those stupidly fast frigates that you might do better with light drones.

In a dom u have 7500 m^2..
Take 20 heavies (wateva mix u want. i go 2:1 orge:beserker) that leaves.... 2500.
When take 20 mediums (vaspas) that leaves 1000
Take 10 light (any)
This leaves u with a nice mix. U use a group 2 get the right drones (my groups are HEAVIES, MEDIUMS, LIGHT)
