I've never really been scammed. Closest thing would be hitting a "2" instead of a "3" when making a contract... unfortunately there were eight zeroes after the two and someone accepted it straight away (it was 100mil below market).

Use some other browser, one that's not Internet Explorer. All the cool kids (and even the not so cool kids) laugh at you when you use Internet Explorer. Opera, Firefox and Chrome all have built-in spell-check (and most likely also all have suggest-a-correction too).
As for not getting scammed, as per your own admission, you're kind of *ahem* slow... and that's not something you can do anything about, sadly... so you just have to be extra-careful.
At best you can check, double-check and even triple-check everything you do that does involve money before accepting anything, even if that involves delaying the transaction a bit (and slightly annoying the one you're trading with in the process). BEFORE you click accept on anything, check the item is what it's supposed to be (i.e. navy version instead of regular version, or that the rigs are actual rigs not blueprint copies in the cargo), if there's something you CAN'T check assume the most worthless possibility (i.e. if they offer you a "rigged ship" in a direct trade, ALWAYS assume it has no rigs at all, ask for it to be a contract so you can see before you accept), check and re-check the number of zeroes AND THE DIRECTION of the ISK transaction (i.e. that you get paid 500 mil instead of getting paid 500k or you paying 500 mil to them).
You know, stuff people would usually call "common sense".

You could stop using the trade window.
Anything higher then a few million I do on contracts. With a contract you can take your time to carefully read all of it. (check if it's in the right station also) There is no need for anyone to convince you to not use a contract. If someone doesn't want to, or makes some lame excuse like "all my contract slots are full" make a reverse contract where you place a "want order".
And last but not least: if some stranger offers you that superdeal, then it's probably a scam. why would anyone give ISK away to a stranger?
If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Something to keep in mind: if somebody you don't know offers you a sale via the trade window, they are trying to scam you.
Never use the trade window. Only contracts. And even then, double check to ensure the thing you're actually buying the the thing you think you're buying.
And whenever your client throws a confirm dialog to you - it's best to read it first.

Not so much take, as repossess. With bullets. And missiles. And pod goo
But seriously, Firefox, Chrome, and others all have spell check. When the squiggly line appears under your word, right click the word and it will give you a list of suggestions. Useful, tbh, I mean, hell, it certainly helps my spelling on the forums.
Grammar, on the other hand, well, there's nothing that can fix that.

If you have trouble with contract scams, you can always link contracts to other people and have them look things over (I'd be happy to check them for you if I'm online). Also, never use the trade window.
