It might be a nice feature if ammo stored in the cargo bay of a ship had a chance of detonating when the ship is destroyed (or even reaches very low structure). Missiles being the most likely and having the largest output to laser crystals being the least.
Perhaps the remaining capacitor (if any could also add to the blast).
Additionally there could be two forms of new container - magazines and bombs. Magazines reduce the chance of a detonation (and the effect of the blast if it does go boom), Bombs doing the exact opposite.
Self destruct automatically causes the ammo to explode.
It might even be interesting to implement this with jet cans and anchored containers.

I'd say hybrid ammo would have the least payload. A few thousand tons of lead or tungsten in the cargo bay would be unlikely to contribute much to an explosion.
And as much as I like the idea of a badly damaged ship's powder magazine erupting, it wouldn't be a great feature in terms of gameplay. ======================

If a ***** bar can explode for 3000 damage (Kruul's Pleasure Hub), then an industrial full of missiles should really **** some **** up.

The considerable amount of antimatter ammo in my hanger would like a word with you. _________________________________

Make self-destructing a CONCORDING offense if the subsequent explosion damages neutrals (in high sec of course). Now that would be fun.

Yes I like the idea of the different flavours of ammo also having an effect antimatter vs lead.
I also think the idea of having some sort of CONCORD response to deliberate self destruct in high sec against non-agressed targets would be fun. Since after all that would make the player some sort of terrorist. Possibly a higher cumulative security hit?
it might be good for the explosion to taper quite heavily so targets in the first 25% of the blast revive around 75% of the damage and so on? Possibly the type of container that the ammo is wrapped in could alter the profile of the explosion?
Freighters full of launcher bombs wrapped in 'bomb' containers might come close to a old doomsday strike.

And that would achieve what?

Wrong. Lead or Tungsten isn't exactely small, and in Hybrid ammo, it's stored as Plasma. So if it cooks off, you'd have a massive plasma explosion.

Possibly he meant that CONCORD would either pod you or target your next ship? Hmmm concord bounty hunters that drop on you after a random interval to punish you for your crimes? But you could always have a non-linear increase in security status hit based on the number of (non-legitimate) targets that you massacre in high sec in one incident (maybe squared).
So if you let your badger mk2 stuffed with scorch bombs off next to gate or station in Jita, taking out all of those clustered freighters, expect to have sec -10 immediately.

fix the bounty system first. why would concord allow the bounty flag (which requires pod kill to collect0, if yo cant shoot them in front of concord? Yet one more system CCp made for the game then abandoned for 10N years.
