Given FA's willingness to defend Period region in the past vs Curse forces, it would seriously surprise me to see something there capable of stopping the occasional raid. It will be interesting to see Curse and FA slug it out now.
From what infos I gathered, that's a point in which FA and UFS disagree. UFS think that FA promised to defend them against anything, so that they could mine or hunt or whatever without any more risks than in high-sec empire (apart from the NPCs, of course). FA actually promised to defend them against a major attack, like a CA fleet, but it's ridiculous to think that the FA fleet would make a 30-35 jumps travel just to swath a pirate or two. FA assumed you were able, and willing, to deal with minor matters yourself.
So, after a few losses for pirates, you declared the FA-UFS treaty void, and attacked FA stations. We all know how the situation turned out after that. You had a relatively secure, profitable space almost all for yourself (FA was staying relatively clear from BP), and, because you wanted stations without taxes and TOTAL security, you lost everything.
Now ex-UFS members whine on the forums because a few indies get shot by mistake

that was the thing though, FA wernt protecting against major incursions into cfs space.
Local people would fight it off. and then FA would wonder down a few hours later and take the station. THEY DIDNT WORK FOR THE STATIONS. thats the whole point ffs. they making profits when not bothering to defend them is not fair.

Edited by: Metal Dude on 12/12/2004 01:34:08 Max. The few times we went to protect CFS then I was in Xanadu, we were greeted by CFS force that would not follow our command, ignore orders, smack in local and when we objected, they would tell us to bug off. So we left and branded them/you not worthy of protecting.
CFS should have been grateful for being allowed to exist. The station tax was rent. CFS didnÆt want to pay rent, so they got evicted. End of story. And by the way. Life is not fair. YouÆll learn that as you get older.
The truth will set you free

Wow... You know, when the UFS/FA war began, I read nothing in these forums but posts stating 'WAY TO GO UFS!!! Good to see you guys standing up for yourselves!! :)'
Then, a strange thing happened. All those people who posted in support of UFS's cause, when it became apparent that FA simply had overwhelming financial resources to replace ship after ship after ship, did something really incredible to help: NOTHING
Now, all I'm reading is FU ufs, you lost the war, gtfo out of pb and stop whining.
wtf is wrong w/ you ppl?

/altmode on It seems to me that UFS got greedy, they were on a good thing a lot of corps down there made a lot of money mining and rating with out having to do anything that they would be required in any major alliance
PBL has been offered the same agreement that UFS/CFS had and has jumped at the offer. As would many of the corps who have been crying out for access to some 0.0 space.
I hope the rank and file members of the former CFS kick thier high councilers in the ass for getting them into the war and running away to empire or other alliances (looks at conrad) when things got tough
While FA were not blameless in this whole event. UFS had the most to loose and the majority of the UFS just ran, this basically indicates that they were 2 carebear to be in 0.0.
Congratualations are in order to the corps who fought to the end, even when the rest of CFS fled and left them outnumbered
